Princess Mary has worn gowns by Henrik Hviid. Here's what I remember:
1. the purple sari gown during the Romanian State Visit (March 16, 2004 so she was still Miss Mary Donaldson) 2. the blue satin gown Princess Mary wore for the New Year's Court 2006. I think QMII also has gowns by Henrik Hviid but I need to search which ones they are. -Ayvee |

It looked like a first wedding to me. Pretty dress, but a little young for a second time around, 40 something bride. And her hair was too high. However, she did look radiant. Wasn't too crazy about the boy's attire - I just don't like her taste in children's clothing. I hope it is happily ever after.

I liked her wedding dress, but her total look reminded me when Catherine Zeta-Jones got married.

Ok. We know now who designed her wedding dress.
I´d really like to know who did her hairdo and her make-up. Does anybody have an idea? |

here's a poll in Alexandras brudekjole? ... Billed-Bladet: Danmarks Royale Ugeblad...:
Alexandras brudekjole [04.03.2007 - 04.04.2007] Som BILLED-BLADET skrev, kom Alexandra i en champagnefarvet brudekjole med langt slør, designet af Henrik Hviid. Synes du Alexandras brudekjole var smuk? no is winning. can anyone translate me? |

I think Alexandra looked lovely but I could not stop thinking that it is early March and must have been pretty cold in Dernmark to wear a dress with no sleeves.

I greatly admire HM Queen Margrethe on how she granted her the title of Countess to be used after a remarriage.

It doesn't really matter what Alexandra wore. She looked happy. Besides, there are many schools of thought about what is appropriate for a wedding. It hasn't been all that long that second weddings were celebrated openly, so conjecture about what is appropriate must change with the times. White was symbolically a color of joy, not virginity. Women wore a dress for their wedding that they could wear again and again as their best dress, so white was not really in fashion until Queen Victoria wore one because white was hard to keep looking clean and only weathly women could afford to do it. Veils were worn as a symbol of a woman becoming a wife and keeping her head covered. The blusher alone was a symbol of the innocence of the bride as her face was not allowed to be seen until after the wedding. There are so many different rules and different traditions that vary from culture to culture. She didn't wear a white leather mini for crying out loud. She looked beautiful. Why shouldn't Alexandra and Martin be allowed to have wedding pictures with Alex looking like a bride just because she was unfortunate enough to have her marriage to Joachim end?

Madeline, thank you so much for sharing your photos
I think Alexandra looks stunning. Regardless of her age, she is a very beautiful woman and has a fabulous figure and I have no problem at all with her choice of outfit. The dress wasn't white, and the veil didn't cover her face. She looked radiant and very happy, and she and Martin will have wonderful wedding photographs to remember the occasion. |

Thank goodness, someone who is seeing things clearly. Who gives a whoop-de-doo if she wore white and a veil or black with a crown of flowers in her hair? It's HER wedding, she can wear what SHE wants and if she's happy, that's all that counts. All this conjecture and speculation and character attacks is just nonsense to me. No one here knows the ins and outs of her relationship with Martin.

I agree- as long as she and Martin, and Felix and Nicolas, are happy, healthy, and all that, then I'm very happy for them.

Prince Joachim saw the media coverage of his ex-wife's wedding. Joachim was out handing out prizes for the Young Researchers Finale on Monday, and few of the press wanted to know his opinions on what he was out there to do - but were more interested in his opinions on the wedding. He staunchly refused to say anything, but then a brief: "Of course I saw it"- slipped out. http://www.bt.dk/article/20070306/ROYALT/70306001

It always has to be awkward when one's ex-spouse remarries, and people continually throw the fact in your face, no matter how well adapted to the idea you are.

I don´t know how famous Helle Bach is in Denmark, but I have to say that although Alexandra looked generally radiant and happy and lovely, the hairdo and make-up were not my taste. But her wedding dress was fantastic! And her shoes, too. (You can see her shoes clearly in some of the wedding pictures, especially in those when she walked up or down the stairs, as I remember. They were also champagne.) Besides, I find Joachim´s reaction interesting. He said, "of course I saw it." But he wasn´t among the guests on her wedding day. So...he meant that he has watched TV at home or he has read the related reports on newspapers and magazines? Hmm, I think maybe we can discuss a bit about his psychology. About why he didn´t attend the wedding? (It could be simply because he wasn´t invited.) And about why he was still curious about Alexandra´s wedding although he wasn´t there. (He said, of course I saw it.) Well, I hope that I can read Danish. It´ll be nice if somebody can translate the coming reports about Alexandra´s wedding on Saturday. |

Were there any royal wedding guests? Royal as in friends that she may still have since the divorce or in this situation would they not be able to go?
Why on earth would she wear a necklace that her ex husband gave her on her wedding day? If I were her new husband I would be very upset. The only thing I can think of is maybe it was really a gift from her sons? |

white or ivory dress, veil or no veil. . . its her wedding, she can wear whatever she wants to and we can't change that.
seems like after her announcement of getting married, more and more people are critizing her? when she was still a princess, everyone says she a perfect princess, now. . . this. don't understand why. i know we have the freedom of speech, but sometimes it really hurts to see what those people said about her. i wonder if they were in her shoes, how will they feel if people starts critizing them like they did right now to her? p/s. as long as she's happy, the little princes are happy, martin's happy & joachim's happy, that's all it matters. |

![]() I thought the dress was OK but the veil was unusual for a second wedding though lovely- why not use that delightful voile as a long coat over the evening style dress and then she would not have looked odd in a situation where she was sleeveless and others around her wearing winter jackets . |
