I don't know how she does it but to me it seems that the Princess keeps looking better and better each time I see her!

Prof Mr. Pieter van Vollenhoven doesn't attend the ceremony on Dam square either, only HM the Queen, the Pirnce of Orange and Pss Maxima are there.

Pieter and Margriet occasionaly attend ceremonies at the' Grebbeberg' in Rhenen, this year Pieter is going there alone. At the Grebbeberg militairy cemetairy the militairy victims of the war are more central, so it is a nice gesture of the RF to be represented there on such a ' high' level.

The Grebbeberg is the venue for the last intens battle between dutch and german troops before surrendering to them. And it is here most of the dutch troops fell in the may 1940 battles,it was to this Grebbeberg Queen Wilhelmina would have rather gone instead of,(what she initially saw as fleeing the country),London.

Pieter van Vollenhoven will attend the capitulation remembrance concert at the St.John the Baptist church,Wageningen.

Didn't she write something in her memoires about that? Something that she would have preferred to have died as the last man in the last ditch at the Grebbeberg then to go to London? Luckily the captain took her there (I believe she was under the impression that the boat went to Zealand).

It will be quite the gathering this evening at the Stadsschouwburg,Amsterdam as after 24 years HRH Princess Margriet will step down as Chair of the European Culturel Foundation (founded by her father in 1952)and hand over the function to HRH Princess Laurentien.

Princess Margriet's family will be present as well as Prince Constantijn.

There will be speeches,a photo session,a dinner followed by a performance of "Stories of Europe-The Attendants Gallery".

Ugh. I have to say that I am no fan of what Laurentien was wearing. I much prefer the style of Margriet, as "helper" to the Queen. As it appears that Laurentien and Constantijn will take up that role eventually, I wish that Laurentien would find a bit better way of dressing, while still keeping her personal flair as well. The dress in the above post by Lucien was just not princess material in my mind.
