The fountain was funded during the crisis years in the late twenties early thirties by the citizens of Apeldoorn who had been requested to "spend a quarter as that won't make you poorer, but a fountain would enriche Apeldoorn".On august 31st 1932 the Fountain was unveiled by Princess Juliana and bears her name since.August 31st was also the old Queensday,as it was the birthday of her mother Queen Wilhelmina.

The Princess will open the Liberation Museum at Borssele,Province of Zeeland, tomorrow friday october 30th.
The Museum emphasizes especially on the Battle of the Schelde,a forgotten battle between september and november 1944.
It is 65 years ago that the Province of Zeeland was liberated at the cost of many casualties, both
military and civilian as the island of Walcheren was inundated. The battle played a key-role in both the
liberation of The Netherlands and the end of WWII.
TE the ambassadors of Canada,Great-Britain,Norway and France will be in attendance.

The photos are great. I love seeing the family dancing with each other. They seem like a very fun and close-knit family.

Does anyone know if the rest of the family is still in New York? I thought that Lucien had stated that Margriet has left, but I was wondering about the rest of the van Vollenhoven family.

Prof. van Vollenhoven has become a dedicated nature photographer (as we were able to see in Blauw Bloed, earlier this year). He now made his own photo book called 'nature surprises'. Any profit made from the book will be used for the foundation victim help (slachtofferhulp).
