Princess Margriet attended the opening of a glass exhibition around the castle Cannenburch in Vaassen, June 25, 2011.
With the completion of the renovation of the castle and the park, the exhibition of contemporary glass was possible
inside and around the park.

HRH Princess Margriet will step in her grandmothers's (Queen Wilhelmina ) footsteps today as she will open the new visitors center of the Ir.D.F.Woudagemaal at Lemmer,province of Friesland today.

The Wouda-gemaal,on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1998,was opened by Queen Wilhelmina in 1920 to enhance the watermanagement in the province of Friesland.It still works to this day and pumps 4million liters a minute into the IJsselmeer.

Yes,that is absolutely true!

As the Princess was born in Canada during WW II it was a sign of hope and a sign of gratefullness by her parents towards the dutch Merchant Fleet who lost so many ships and crew in the war and still persevered,lenient as they were/are.Other godparents included Francis,Earl of Athlone who was Governor General of Canada at the time and ofcourse married to a full cousin of Queen Wilhelmina,Alice.

Princess Margriet has the names Margriet (daisy in dutch) Franciska,after the Earl of Athlone.
