Well Regina, Magali is used here indeed I know 2 Magali´s, one from Flanders and one from The Netherlands. Not a very common name but still not as exotic as Zaria or Luana. Used IMHO to give the child a name that is a bit ´different´ and thus trendy but she can still attend the local hockey club and later the female student society (/´corps´) of Leiden University without needing to feel emberrased about her name (though I might be too much of a cynic here).

Some sources say that Magali comes from Magdelena btw, and not from Margaret. As the little girl seems to be named it isn´t that odd anyway to use both Magali as Margriet.

Why is Magali a "weird name" ?

It's definately not a name you hear everyday, but that's only a good thing. I like the name very much, and love the fact that they chose a name that THEY loved.

"Ariane" is the french version of the greek "Ariadne". Ariadne was a greek princess...so I guess it can be considered royal

anyways, congratulations to the couple!!!

Well the name is different! And yes the names Magali and Margaret sound different enough when they are said together. But at babynames.com it specifically says that Magali is a version of Margaret making this little girl's full name a bit of an odd choice. All in all, I kind of like the name choice. I know it is a French name but for some reason it does not seem French to me. But to the more important part, congrats to the happy family!

well, yippee for a new baby girl!!!
Boo! to the name. Don't like it at all.
Reminds me of the name of the little jungle boy that comes out in the Disney movie "Jungle Book".
But that's JMO.

Magali..weird at first sight, but decent. Has an upbeat kind of vibe that I quite like.

Better in any case than the Zaria/Alexia/Luana weirdness - names that would work great for 'waitresses' in, forgive my opinion folks, one of those maybe-not-so-decent drinking establishments. Good for Floris and Aimee for not going with that. Magali is a name that's presentable I think. Still don't like it as much as something like 'Emma'.

I like the name Magali , but it's not royal...

It's just so funny , that this firstborn child is ... a girl again

Just like Anna , Isabella , Eloise , Amalia , Luana , Emma and now Magali !

Congrats to Aimee and Floris!

A very unusual name.....but one that appears to have some meaning to the parents.

While I really like the middle names I am not too fond of the first name... Well, if Floris and Aimee like it that is all that matters!

I have only seen the second middle named spelled Eleanor or with an e on the end. Is it common in the Netherlands to spell it Eleonoor?

Another poster on page 2 said that the spelling is the Dutch spelling. It's also the name of Aimee's mom.
