Default The remains of the last missing Romanov children

If this story proves to be true,it would be fantastic indeed, but I'm cautious untill proven that it is not an extension of the silly season the month of august usually is.

Apparently Russian archeologist Sergej Porgorelov claims to have found the two missing members of the Imperial Family, the Heir Alexsey (Alyosha) and his sister Marie in the remains of a bonfire at the spot discribed by Yurovski were the bodies were first burned and then buried not far from it.All,except two of the bodies were found several years ago.

To be honest, there is only one organisation that I would instantly believe if they would come up with such a find.

If the bones belong to Alexei and Marie, I hope, finally they will be buried as they deserve and finally rest in peace alongside their family.

BBC NEWS | World | Europe | Russia dig finds 'tsar's family'

Well, let's hope some progress can come from this. It's about time the Romanovs sorted themselves out and maybe another Royal funeral will give them the grounds to do that.

Independent examination (and DNA-tests) should be carried out. The main question is: whether the gene of a hemophilia will be found in the remains.
In addition I can inform:
All our (Russian) TV are informing on the find as news №1. Edward Radzinsky has told (having an artful look), that identification of the remains (as the remains of Alexei and Maria) will confirm authenticity of «Yurovsky's Note» also [the same Yurovsky’s Note, not new one’s].
Metropolitan Cyril has very cautiously told: «All examinations and tests should be carried out with maximum transparent, that at anybody did not remain any doubt ».

A little more independent Russian TV-channel (NTV) has shown interview with Vadim Wiener - he said: «Yurovsky's Note is a fake, hence it is not remains of Alexei and sister».

Will the Duke of Edinburgh be giving another sample to help identify these new bones, or is the one he gave during the discovery of the previous remains still available? Or will others contribute?

Doubtful. They certainly didn't do that at the Dowager Empress Marie's re-burial, though she always was the unifying force abroad after the revolution. While I'm thrilled that they've found Aleksi and Maria, I doubt that this will be the thing to bring the family together. The Vladimirovichi (Maria Vladimirovna and Georgi) are and always been too hauty to be palatable to the rest of the family and frankly I don't blame them. Her entire family from Kyril down has been detestably distant and imperious.

Hopefully now Aleksi and Maria can be laid to rest with their family in SS Peter and Paul Cathedral. God Bless the Romanovs!

Spasibo Boris for your contribution.

I will wait what the Search Foundation's reaction will be through Margarita Nelipa on behalve of Peter Sarandinaki,President of the SEARCH Foundation.

Meanwhile to quote a dear friend;"Mr. Viner is a delusional man who's disingenuous comments mean nothing, except that he must be shaking at the knees afraid that his own claims will no longer get publicity"

JPhinala, let that Vladimirovichi woman do what that brand of the family is good at since Marie the Elder, scheming and deviding. The family is its own worse enemy.

Many of the Romanov family (most significantly the two that were quarrelling, Maria V. & Nicholas R.) dined together after the reburial of Empress Maria Feodorovna. It seems as though the feud is over. And its not like all the Romanov descendants were involved, the Ilynskys get along with everybody.

For those who have the National Geographic Channel, they will be featuring the Romanovs on a new series. i forgot the title of the series (sorry!) but the show i think is dedicated to royalty. the show will air on Monday, September 3, 10 PM (GMT+8).

No date of a possible burial is known yet,as tests are still under way at present. There will be additional info once these have been completed.

On wednesday a court at Tverskoi ruled against a legal rehabilitation of Nicky.Prompted the Romanovs Family Association representative,Ivan Artsishevski yesterday to state on Ekho Moskvy radio that:

"Legal rehabilitation of Russian Emperor's Nicholas II family members is not needed,Russia rehabilitated the Emperor by a solemn burial of the family remains in Petropavlovsk fortress St.Petersburg".

According to Artsishevki the ruling of the Prosecutors General's Office was expected and predictable.

"The descendants of the Romanov family always held a position that if there is a legal rehabilitation,it is good,if not,it is deplorable but is hardly of great importance".

"It was a murder,it was unjustified, unfair and tragic, but it is not important in principle to resolve this issue on paper,by handing over a certificate, this is not important in principle"according to Mr.Artsishevki,yesterday.

That is so amazing. I can't wait to find out if it is Anastasia and her brother. It is incredibly sad, but finally they can be put to rest whether it is her or not.

I am on a couple other forums that some of our posters have done extensive research and came up with a lot of info. Doesn't support this claim. But that doesn't surprise me that they want to put this to bed. It is Russia after all. . .
