Royal Jewels of the World Message Board: Christina with a small diamond bandeau
Is that a robe I see on her? From her husbands family?

That train is part of the traditional Swedish court dress. The use of these court dresses was abolished when Karl Gustave became king.

The diamond bandeau is a meander bracelet from the Swedish royal Family. It was also worn by Princess Birgitta.

Artemisia's Royal Jewels: Swedish Royal Jewels: Queen Desideria’s Malachite Parure

Wow. This parure this one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. I wish this was still in the Swedish royal collection. I could only imagine how this parure would look like on Queen Silvia and Crown Princess Victoria.

Its baffling as to why it was donated to the Nordic Museum after Sofia's death!

I agree with you. The set looks very dated. At the time of the donation there probably was no royal lady who was keen on wearing such an “outdated” parure. So I’m glad that it is in a museum now, that’s much better then selling it off, don’t you agree?

Well, times change. What at a certain time seemed old fashioned, would nowadays be seen as historical, and combining the the old parure with a modern evening dress would probably hailed aspost-modern. I’m sure that Queen Silvia would have been absolutely capable of pulling it off. She could make it look stunning. But at the time of Queen Sofia’s death, probably nobody would have thought this to be possible.

Yes, there is! The lava parure has cameos carved out of lava stone, set in gold. Afaik Queen Sofia left it to her daughter Princess Ingeborg, whose daughter Margareta married Prinz Axel of Denmark.

That is an interesting tiara! Looks like a button tiara... Not to my liking, but interesting to say the least.

Wow, the Braganza tiara looks so glittering in movement! But because the camera follows Queen Louise, we can’t make out the people behind her properly. But I think that the next lady is Princess Sibylla with the aquamarine tiara now owned by Princess Margareta. The lady who is walking in front of Princess Margareta is the Duchess of Devonshire (Lady of the Bedchamber of QEII) with the Devonshire diamond tiara and her sapphire necklace. Who is the Princess behind Princess Margarea? Is it Birgitta? I thought that I saw something glittering in her hair, but it is not clearly recognizable.

Earlier today I came across this photograph of Crown Princess Margareta wearing the Khedive tiara. I know of just a few other photographs of HRH wearing this tiara (in one of them with the Connaught tiara as necklace) - http://bildarkiv.iblbildbyra.se/foto...60EE746&sz=800

Can you find another pic of her wearing the tiara? The link won't work.

What a beautiful portrait of CP Margareta. Amazing how the tiara is nestling on that wagon wheel hair. It’s a pity that the watermark covers the corsage ornament. Could it be the corsage brooch with pink tourmalines?

It is wonderful to see these old portraits re-surface after such a long time. I wonder if someday a picture of her with her ruby wedding gift parure will be found. That would make my day .

Yes, the placing of the tiara onto all that hair is something that imressed me as well :) It almost looks like the tiara might fall with even the slightest movement of HRH's head. BTW, the photograph just screams Edwardian! So amazingly beautiful and refined :) Any ideas when it might've been taken? Maybe not long after the wedding?
Tilia, I totally agree about a photo with the rubies. That would be spectacular
Is it known if Crown Princess Margareta owned a corsage brooch with pink tourmalines? If so, that would be new to me :)
