Actually, the pendant looks appealing to me. This was Queen Frederica's favorite. She wore it as a brooch too. Most of time, Queen Sofia has worn this together with a pearl necklace.

I like that Queen Sofia wore this when they all went back to Greece for a Memorial Service to King Paul's 50th Death Anniversary in 2014.

For me, Queen Sofia has one of the most impressive 'personal jewelry collection.' Extremely elegant and rich in history.

Its quite obviously a sentimental piece of jewelry for Queen Sofia but its more effective when worn on its own and not cluttered by with other necklaces as queen Sofia has a habit of wearing too much.

The necklace is beautiful on both women but I particularly like it matched with Letizia's dress in the photo. She should wear it more often!
Both the earrings and necklace are really beautiful ,as far as I'm aware the best of the Spanish jewels other than the Joyas de Pasar still belong to the kings mother but has loaned them in the past.

Letizia wore the matching emerald and diamond pendant earrings for the Japanese enthronement in the autumn of 2019.

Queen Sofia has always been generous lending her jewels so no change there.

Is it known which jewels Queen Sofia inherited of her mother? Here is a list of jewels she might have inherited of her mother Queen Frederica.

I doubt we will see any of them worn fora very long time unless she passes them onto her daughter in law or granddaughters.

Even if she gives them to Letizia i doubt we will see them, in the best case she wears the earrings thats it. Leonor and Sofia my only hope to see some jewels in the next 20 years! But to be honest i think a lot of Sofia's pieces, especially the less known will be inherited by Elena or Cristina..

Lets see how this evolves. Letizia is not averse to bringing the bling out when she considers it appropriate. Elena and Christina may prefer to inherit cash rather than jewellery.

I've given up on Letizia on the jewel front other than earrings she's pretty boring and not very adventurous.

I don't think we'll see Elena or Cristina wearing any historic pieces either.

You are right but the Prussian and the ruby tiaras will be for them.

As they don't attend State Dinners anymore i think so to. Even more in the case of Cristina.

I can't see the Infanta Cristina ever needing a tiara in the future and if she does she could have to borrow one.
Hopefully Queen Sofia won't break up the current Spanish Tiara collection and the Prussian will remain in the main line .

There is also the Shell tiara.

I hope the tiara's stay in the main line, with smaller pieces of sentimental value being passed along to Elena and Christina.

I would love to see Letizia remodel the Niarchos Ruby tiara. Just my taste, but I am not crazy about that mid-century VCA golden claw-like settings for the stones.

As far as I know they still belong to queen Sofia & may pass them onto her daughter in law or granddaughters.
Hopefully we will see them worn again.
