As it is not a family order, you will never see any royal lady wearing several of them showing different monarchs either, as in Norway and Britain for example.

If interpreting the Wikipedia text then the king's sisters have had to get new ones in 1973, and not just changed the portrait of their old ones.

(och ersatte då Kung Gustaf VI Adolfs porträtt vid nya tilldelningar. - and replaced then the portrait of king Gustaf VI Adolf at new awardings.)

The pearls that Queen Silvia wore to the christening were very beautiful and only augmented the elegance of her attire. I do agree about their lustre against the lace.

Queen Silvia wore an interesting set of jewels first seen in ca. 2005 during the state visit to South Korea today.
It consists of a large brooch in what looks like yellow gold, diamonds and very pale pink stones; her earrings and the pendant worn on a necklace chain apparently match the pinkish stones in the pendants of the brooch.

Picture from today:

That brooch is just a beauty. In many ways, it reminds me of the separate brooches to Queen Mary of England's stomacher; it has that look about it.

Yes, I think she wore earrings and pendant which match the brooch for the first time during the 2010 state visit to Brazil, with the pendant attached to her modern V-shaped diamond necklace on that occasion:

In South Korea, Queen Silvia wore another relatively new brooch today – first seen about two years ago, it’s difficult to tell which stones it might include.

I think Boris posted that photo from another occasion where Silvia wore the same gown but a different necklace. This is the current event where she wore the modern diamond necklace with the pendant. I have to say, I like the more intricate diamond and emerald necklace and earrings much better!

Thank you for all image postings! Baroness you have an eagle eye. I also like the more intricate version, for the plethora of jewels, also for the shorter length.

Baroness of Books is correct, of course - these are two different sets of emeralds. The pendant necklace now worn in South Korea has small matching stud earrings with an emerald in a diamond cluster.

Here's a good close up of the pendant emerald necklace worn in South Korea (from a different occasion - it was first seen in public in 2006):

http://s17.postimage.org/j3gbfhxkv/Screenshot_2.jpg

Queen Silvia also owns a third contemporary set of emeralds:

http://s9.postimage.org/7c8ujmz7z/Ne...otos032390.jpg

And there's probably even a fourth which was worn only one time so far, in 2008. If it was a loan, it would be highly unusual for her as she was never seen in borrowed jewelry. This one is quite a whopper, so it could perhaps be a gift in a style not really to her liking:

I really don't like that tassel/necktie emerald and diamond necklace, though the earrings are stunning. That particular necklace calls for some redesign, IMO. Thanks for all the images, Boris.
