Could someome please tell me about Queen Silvia's necklace?
I guess you are referring to the necklace worn at the jubilee lunch?
As I mentioned before, Queen Silvia has had it since the mid-1980s; part of a set including matching earrings and bracelet, in yellow gold with pavé-set lozenge-shaped diamond centre.

For the christening of Princess Estelle, Queen Silvia wore the most historic pearls from the Bernadotte collection:
The oriental pearl necklace and the drop pearl and diamond earrings were originally part of the collection of King Carl XIV Johan aka Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte, the dynasty's first King.
IMO their luster complemented the powdery pastel of Queen Silvia's outfit to great effect.

Those pearls also complement the overall retro look of the Queen's outfit as well with the lace, the color and the seed pearls on her cloche-type hat. They're astoundingly large and lustrous; those teardrop earrings are just amazing. Thanks for posting and for the information, Boris.

Thanks Boris for this great information :flowers:
Queen Silvia always pay attention to tradition and to the event. Beautiful set of pearls :)

Boris, what do you call the brooches the 3 Swedish royal ladies are wearing. (Im stupid today)

Well it's NOT a family order in the Swedish case, it's simply a clasp or agraffe or a miniature, with the King's portrait in a diamond frame on the ice blue ribbon of the Order Of The Seraphim.

Normally in media coverege here in Sweden the commentators say that the portrait of the king shows that they are a ladies of the royal household and that they are on "duty" when they have it. Think they mean that it marks that it is à state event and not à private one

You are right that it's not an official family order, but it's considered as an inofficial one. The Swedish name is Kungens miniatyrporträtt (The king's miniature portrait) and there are at the moment eight ladies who are entitled to wear it: queen Siliva, crown princess Victoria, princess Madeleine, princess Lilian, and the king's sisters Margaretha, Birgitta, Désirée and Christina, I would guess that the four later ones have it with their grandfather's, Gustaf VI Adolf, portrait. Kungens miniatyrporträtt - Wikipedia

They certainly had it with their grandfather's portrait originally, but the moment a new monarch succeeds, the portrait is changed for the one of the new sovereign, because only the portrait of the current monarch is worn.
As it is not a family order, you will never see any royal lady wearing several of them showing different monarchs either, as in Norway and Britain for example.

If interpreting the Wikipedia text then the king's sisters have had to get new ones in 1973, and not just changed the portrait of their old ones.

(och ersatte då Kung Gustaf VI Adolfs porträtt vid nya tilldelningar. - and replaced then the portrait of king Gustaf VI Adolf at new awardings.)

The pearls that Queen Silvia wore to the christening were very beautiful and only augmented the elegance of her attire. I do agree about their lustre against the lace.

Thank you for the super info about the portrait pins.....very interesting!

That brooch is just a beauty. In many ways, it reminds me of the separate brooches to Queen Mary of England's stomacher; it has that look about it.

how different a camera and the ligt can projekt a item
it looks like a silver colour in the new photos but with a brass colour the up close photo
Bóris to you mean you have seen the pendent and earings before?

Yes, I think she wore earrings and pendant which match the brooch for the first time during the 2010 state visit to Brazil, with the pendant attached to her modern V-shaped diamond necklace on that occasion:

I think Boris posted that photo from another occasion where Silvia wore the same gown but a different necklace. This is the current event where she wore the modern diamond necklace with the pendant. I have to say, I like the more intricate diamond and emerald necklace and earrings much better!

Thank you for all image postings! Baroness you have an eagle eye. I also like the more intricate version, for the plethora of jewels, also for the shorter length.

Baroness of Books is correct, of course - these are two different sets of emeralds. The pendant necklace now worn in South Korea has small matching stud earrings with an emerald in a diamond cluster.

Here's a good close up of the pendant emerald necklace worn in South Korea (from a different occasion - it was first seen in public in 2006):

Queen Silvia also owns a third contemporary set of emeralds:

And there's probably even a fourth which was worn only one time so far, in 2008. If it was a loan, it would be highly unusual for her as she was never seen in borrowed jewelry. This one is quite a whopper, so it could perhaps be a gift in a style not really to her liking:

I really don't like that tassel/necktie emerald and diamond necklace, though the earrings are stunning. That particular necklace calls for some redesign, IMO. Thanks for all the images, Boris.
