Hmmmm...thats cutting it close Pollyemma, but I would have to say yes.
Although, I do appreciate the hisotry of this set very much, its just that the whole gold and pearl (I think) look doesn't really do it for me. I must say though that it does sit wonderfully on HM the Queen, but I would still never wear it.
One good thing about the button tiara is that it is encrusted with diamonds!

Last year, Queen Silvia has started to wear a beautiful, large diamond brooch that I've never seen on her before. Judging by the design, I'd say it's an old historical piece. She wore it twice during the Malaysian state visit to Sweden, both during the day and at night for the return dinner. I figure it was either never worn before or it's a recent gift.
A clear pic can be found on this forum on

Would anybody know more about this beautiful brooch? Thank you in advance!

queen silvia is one elegant queen!
she also wear her jewels very well. she always looks so glamorous.
just wondering:
1) is there a close-up of the emerald necklace in post#20. is it the bernadotte emerald necklace?
2) does she have a set of ruby jewels?
3) what is the bernadotte foundation?

I don't think I've seen Queen Siliva ever wear the Ruby Tiara to a Nobel before. IMO it doesn't really look good on her but I'm surprised in the 28+ years she's been to Nobel that she hasn't worn it...right?

She has got access to the best jewelry collection imo (aside from the British royal family perhaps).
tomorrow night, no matter which tiara she wears, I'm sure she'll look spectacular!

Queen Silvia wore a completely new ruby demi-parure for the recent gala in New York's Winter Garden, see the link on this forum:
http://img140.imagevenue.com/img.php...0209_gala4.jpg
The design is most beautiful IMO ( looks like late 20's/early 30s? ) and the necklace is quite impressive, so would anybody have any info about this new addition to her jewelry collection?
My hope is that she might combine it with the rarely worn Connaught ruby tiara she has to form a complete ruby parure.

I don't have any images to add right now although I am looking, but just wanted to say how well she always wears her jewellry. They are all magnificant and she never disappoints with her classy style! The Bernadotte jewels are definitely my favorite.

Hmmm, while I agree that the tiara may not be the most beautiful, certainly you can appreciate the uniqueness of it. It is (as far as I know) the only large cameo tiara in use by a royal family, and you just don't see very many cameo tiaras that are that large. It is, I suppose, a relic of a very specific time (the beginning of the 19th century).
Actually, it was this tiara which first captivated me when I saw it on television while in the United Kingdom. I guess it's for that reason that I still appreciate it so much. Queen Silvia has so many beautiful tiaras, that I really appreciate the stranger ones for their ability to shake things up a bit. Perhaps I'm jaded.
