The heavy large tiara is extremely old. The thinner one-garlands and circles-
that was old and worn in the formal picture by Princess Cecile. Then the one
with the heavy duty frame of silver- diamonds and sapphires is a formal
court tiara and extremely heavy-with matching paure. Lovely.

Saphire. Given to as a gift by King Gustav Adolf to his wife, Queen Victoria (nee of Baden) on their wedding anniversary.

what kind of necklace is this?
It looks like a diamond collete. The Swedish RF has several.

Here's a picture from polfoto.dk of Queen Silvia wearing the six rose button tiara. Not sure if she's ever worn it before.
http://194.68.33.51/fotoweb/bin/preview.dl...54D561E8E66C1F1
Queen Silvia has never worn any of the Rose button tiaras before and (in my opinion) she was not lucky this time. If she want's to wear that tiara she should have another coiffure that hides the frames. She usually looks very grand and glittering wearing gala, but unfortunately not this time.

What a great website!!!!

Can anyone identify the tiara that Queen Silvia wore at the gala celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary? This is the only photo of the event that I can find, and the tiara is not very clear, but it does not look like one that I have ever seen her wear. (What a beautiful outfit!)

I am researching for a lecture on the Swedish tiaras, and would like to identify this one. I thought I knew them all.

THanks for any and all help.

Forgot to answer your question, oops,sorry!
They're leaves that were painted/gilded silver. (Oak leaves maybe?)
I remember reading that on a site.

Leaves painted silver????!!!!! With all of her FABULOUS tiaras she had one made of painted leaves!!!!! I sure would like to see a better photo of this one.

Thanks for the info.....I'll check the forum feedback and maybe I'll get my next topic right.

I agree about this tiara (Six-button Rose Tiara), in that she definitely should have covered the frames...but it's nice to see her mix it up and wear a tiara that she normally doesn't wear. I still thought she looked great though. I wonder when the next will be that she wears the huge one (Braganaca Diamond tiara?)...

They say it's really heavy, so, it'll have to be a major occasion (the wedding of one of her children perhaps?)

She tends to wear it during incoming royal state visits, providing the visiting royal lady has something somewhat comprable. I'd be interested to know what the quality and clarity of the stones are. The stones in newer jewels are generally of better quality.

Most of the tiaras are part of the family foundation. There's the:

Braganza tiara;

nine pronged tiara;

Connaught laurel tiara;

Empress Josephine's Sapphire tiara;

cameo tiara;

amathyst tiara;

Baden fringe tiara;

Napoleonic steel cut tiara;

King Edward VII ruby tiara;

the Carl Gustav necklace tiara; and

the two button tiaras.

She also has access to the aurel leaf tiara worn by Princes Lilian and the little aquamarine tiara worn by Princess Madeleine, as well as some of the tiara's in the possession of her sisters-in-law (notably the aquamarine tiara).

Have I missed any?

Sean

I don't think the one her husband gave her is part of the foundation. It was a birthday gift/anniversary gift.
