Lovely and regal and the Wolfers works well as a necklace.

I agree, the Wolfers makes a great necklace. I think I prefer it in the necklace version.

She also wears pearls and diamonds often, I just don’t find simple earrings like that interesting enough to post them here.

Yes they are among the nicer pieces in Queen Mathilde's jewel chest, she has some modern gaudy pieces I don't care for.

I don't know if it was a gift ?
I hope to see Her this year with the Nine Province tiara and the Wolfers Necklace as Queen Fabiola did.
Queen Paola wore the Nine Province tiara with her small necklace.

A stunning classic piece.

Flip it up then she can get an extra tiara – okay I just wish she has more pieces in her vault

That necklace is wonderful on her and it makes her tiara look lighter, brighter and bigger. I think the pairing of that particular tiara with that particular necklace enhances both.

According to this tweet, this necklace is currently up for sale at Wolfers in Brussels.

Maybe Mathilde never bought this piece, and just borrowed it for important occasions?

Maybe they've created a limited series of a certain number of the same necklaces. Mathilde had the first one and now, after a few years, they're starting to sell the others. Even if, truth be told, I haven't seen her wearing it for a long time...since Stephanie and Guillaume's wedding, as far as I remember.

I don't think she has worn it since she became queen, but she wore it several times as Duchess of Brabant, which makes it unlikely that it was a loan.

I think costume and fake jewels can be a very good alternative for daily events which are not too formal, such as meetings or visits to charities and things like that...they makes you look elegant without looking like you're showing off your wealth.

Queen Mathilde has loaned several pieces of jewellery when she was a princess. For instance the big necklace she wore at WA's 40th birthday party, or the one she wore for Victoria's wedding. But I really hope it wasn't the case for this one, because it is really regal.

......*sigh* I hope Marchesina is right, they are not the same piece. It's indeed a very regal piece.

I don't mind fake jewels as long as it's a refined work.
