Nobody knows, the necklace might even be paste or real moonstones, small diamonds and sapphires. I don't find the design all that pretty, the other old sapphire necklace is much prettier.

The Mellerio sapphire parure was not by Mellerio but was made by Amsterdam jeweller Maison van der Stichel.

Nobody knows, the necklace might even be paste or real moonstones, small diamonds and sapphires. I don't find the design all that pretty, the other old sapphire necklace is much prettier.

The Mellerio sapphire parure was not by Mellerio but was made by Amsterdam jeweller Maison van der Stichel.

Hard to tell because of the lighting - but there could be iolite or tanzanite in there, easily.

Very hard to tell because of the lighting but it does seem that they are moonstones, thank you dbarn, and sapphires and diamonds. Maybe there are other stones as well because the blue stones appear to be different blues.

You can barely see it behind her hair but Maxima's earrings have the same diamond triangle dops as the necklace.

The triangle drops in the necklace and the earrings (sans the center sapphires) look like the tops of the Dutch Sapphire Necklace/Tiara and reconfigured from portions (especially the chiclet shaped sapphires) of Queen Whilhelmina's Wedding gift parure (tiara mostly). It makes sense given that the Sapphire/Necklace was made from the dismantled Wedding Gift tiara, according to the Dutch Royal Jewels blog.I like that Queen Maxima's playing with the royal jewels.

Does this mean that Maxima had the dutch sapphire and diamond necklace/tiara dismantled to make this? or maybe she just took off the diamond/sapphire triangle tops to the tiara/necklace, if so, good choice, imo. the row of oval kashmirs should be shown on its own as it was orginally in Emma's Dog collar, according to the dutch jewel blogs.

NO!This doesn't mean none of the above!At all!The dutch wedding gift parure was dismantled over 50 years ago after the death of Queen Wilhelmina.

NO!This doesn't mean none of the above!At all!The dutch wedding gift parure was dismantled over 50 years ago after the death of Queen Wilhelmina.

In my view, this is a new set, and is not "descended" from the wedding tiara.

As much as I love the Rose Cut tiara and her wedding tiara, my favorite tiara appearance from Maxima this year is when she wore the Mellerio Sapphire Tiara! She looked AMAZING that day!

Also, I am hoping she will wear the Stuart Tiara in 2014.

I'm wondering, the aquamarine brooch looks very similar to the one worn in Spain in September 2013 (see my previous post here). I guess the pendant is being reused?
