That Antique Pearl Diadem is nice but the absolute eyecatcher was the devant-de-corsage from Tsarina Maria Feodorovna with the pearshaped pearl pendants.

Tsarina Maria Feodorovna was the mother of Queen Anna Pavlovna of the Netherlands, but the corsage came in the Orange-Nassau collection via Anna's sister Queen Catharina Pavlovna of Württemberg. Anna's son Willem III would marry Catharina's daughter Sophie (a marriage of two full cousins indeed).

This is the way:

Tsarina Maria Feodorovna of Russia born Sophia Dorothea Augusta Louisa Herzogin von Württemberg
|
Königin Catharina von Württemberg born Catharina Pavlovna Romanova, Grand-Princess of Russia
|
Koningin Sophie der Nederlanden, Prinses van Oranje-Nassau born Sophia Friederike Mathilde Prinzessin von Württemberg
|
Koningin Wilhelmina Helena Pauline Maria der Nederlanden, Prinses van Oranje-Nassau
|
Koningin Juliana Emma Louise Marie Wilhelmina der Nederlanden, Prinses van Oranje-Nassau
|
Placed into the legal ownership of (a Foundation of) the House Orange-Nassau

See Tsarina Maria Feodorovna's corsage:

I like both pieces a lot. The tiara is one of the more succesful designs of the Dutch collection IMO, elegant simplicity in the design and the large size of the pearls give it a less spiky / more harmonious feeling than some other tiara's with prongs in the collection. The history of this piece is rather interesting too: it was supposedlymade for Queen Wilhelmina & inspired by a tiara that belonged to Queen Anna Pavlovna and four of the pearls supposedly still belonged to Amalia of Solms!

And it is indeed wonderful to see the corsage in its entire form again. It works best on a simple dress like this one, where the dress is not competing with the jewel for attention.

Perfect combination with Queen Maxima's gown last night worked so perfectly together.

There's no doubt that when Maxima gets it right, no one does it better than she does. She really does carry off the jewels that would overwhelm another woman.

Its nice to see the Antique Tiara again Its just the second time she wore it since becoming Queen in 2014. The brooch looks stunning. She is born to wear big jewels.

what a treat. I would love to see a good picture of the devant de corsage. She looks absolutely perfectly royal, not celebrity. Perfect hair, makeup , tiara, earrings and dress with wonderful corsage. Best appearance.

Yesterday Queen Máxima wore a diamond rivière, diamond earstuds and also a diamond twin-brooch as hair ornament.

All rivières look alike but this seems to be a privately purchased diamond rivière (which truly deserves the prize for the - by far- most unnecessary new addition to the Dutch collection ever). All by all it was a sparkling outing on TV.

I remember reading about a new rivière a while ago too, but I do not remember where. Can't remember any details and I can never tell them apart.
If they have bought it it seems indeed a bit excessive as there are a few other rivières in the collection. The quality and cut of the stones may differ of course.

Nice to see the bow brooches, which IIRC are in the personal collection of the Queen.

Maybe the Queen felt her best rivières with the most superb quality diamonds are not suitable for an evening like yesterday, but for me, an amateur, all rivières are so similar, that it feels like wasting resources. Buy a nice turquoise parure, or a citrine hair ornament, instead of adding damonds AGAIN in the overflooding cassettes!

They certainly have a way eith diamonds. The diamond riviere tiara is spectacular in its simplicity and the sheer gob-smacking size of each diamond.

She has worn the same rivière in Portugal.

Modekoninginmaxima claimed at the time that the riviere was from the personal collection of the queen. The author of the blog got her information from Edwin Fellner, who claims that:

Quote:

In short: a recent addition to the collection. We saw the riviere for the first time during the state visit to France. It contains 50 diamonds but it can be made longer by adding a few more.

What I found confusing was that the author claimed that it was part of the personal collection of the Queen while stating in the same article that the new necklace had been added 'to the collection'.

At this stage, we are not really sure if the necklace was actually a new addition to the Queen's personal or "family" collection. However, my view is, there are only a handful of families in the world that can actually use these with some regularity, and if Max wants to add the fourth or fifth riviere to the stash because she thinks she has a use for it, why not? And whilst there is a reasonable list of additions I would like to see to the Dutch jewels box (a more substantial emerald and diamond tiara, a nice sapphire and diamond necklace, a parure in amethysts and another in turquoise) I am sure its not the lack of financing that stops Max from buying any more jewellery.

In the future Catharina-Amalia will have unlimited access to all possible jewels in the collection of the House Orange-Nassau.

Her sisters Alexia and Ariane will have access too, but maybe Queen Máxima wants them to have personal jewelry as well (as also Queen Juliana did for her younger daughters). The Queen has purchased a new pearl sautoir while the collection is full with pearls, she has purchased a new diamond rivière while the collection is full with diamonds, she has purchased diamonds-and-sapphires jewelry while there are two such parures in the collection, she has purchased diamonds-and-rubies jewelry while there are two such parures in the collection, etc. My guess is that the Queen purchases for the benefit of her two youngest daughters' future private ownerships. Otherwise there is little logic in adding even more of the same to the collection.

You may well be right that the Queen is gradually building a pot of jewellery that could eventually be privately owned by each of her two younger daughters. Whilst they may have access to jewellery owned by the foundation to wear, privately owned jewels can be disposed off, if reqiuired.

I don't know why Queen Maxima wears diamond bracelets to banking meetings. I always think of bankers as people who wear sombre, no-glitter clothes to work. Mind you, I don't know that world.

It are her family bracelets with names or initials and another ones with her family's birthstones. So these bracelets are her "daily ones" so to say. She is seldom or never seen with these two bracelets, even despite a "cluttering" of bracelets.

Golden family bracelet with the full names of her three daughters and their birthstones:

Luckily, when she is in formal attire, she only wears formal bracelets:

Another one, going formal is only formal jewels:
