On June 12th 2013 King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima slept one day in a grand hotel in Maastricht, in the South of the Netherlands. The Queen's luggage was pictured. While it was no State Visit (there was an official visit to Maastricht, starting next day), there was an amazing amount of luggage for the Queen:

Visibly are two hat boxes, a large beautycase, several more cases. Probably the Queen wants to have one outfit in reserve. On June 13th 2013 the Queen only spent a few hours in Maastricht, so one can imagine how many luggage she takes with her to Japan and South Korea, not to mention the King, the Queen's Hofdames, the King's valet, the King's private secretary, the aides-de-camp, the director of the King's Secretariate, the security, etc. etc., for various events, including evening dress, etc.

I would love to travel like this, specially when you have other people carrying your luggage doing your make up hair and ironing your clothing!!!!! that is a dream come true!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I don't think a hairdresser/make up artist accompanied her during this statevisit.
The ladies-in-waiting are used to working with jewels (they had special lessons) and the Queen uses local hairdressers most of the time.
She also used a American hairdresser when she and Willem-Alexander were visiting New York a few years ago I believe.
Please correct me if I'm wrong...

Great photo of the updo/jewels last night: http://robinutrecht.photoshelter.com/img/pixel.gif

I love the coordination between the pattern of the earrings and the dress.

The Hofdames (Ladies-in-Waiting) have not had a training in hairdoes or jewels, really they don't. They are so high in hierarchy and have such a standing at the Court and in society that they really do not "lower" themselves to help the Queen with dressing...

So to see Queen Máxima is escorted by Anna-Magdalena Crince le Roy - Van Munster van Heuven, who is in the board of the Rotterdam Penitentiary Institiution, in the Board of the Erasmus Foundation (giving financial grants to promising students), in the board of the Union of Rotterdam Funds (a club of wealthy Rotterdamers supporting charity, arts, sciences, etc.) and in the board of the Foundation Schoonoord (to preserve historic private parks and landscapes in Rotterdam).

According the book "Aan het Hof" (At the Court) by Hoedeman & Meijer the Hofdames have no executive role but are really "approved accompany of Her Majesty". Hofdames do not fit in the functional hierarchy at the Court. They belong to the Honorary Household and are personal confidantes of the Queen, no "staff" in the sense of the word. According the book Queen Beatrix had a personal dresser and a beautician/coiffeuse. I think Queen Máxima has a personal dresser as well, seeing the staggering amounts of clothes, hats, shoes, bijoux. Probably she will have a beautician as well. This is a tight-programmed State Visit to two separate countries with lots of changes. That is a difference with one visit to New York. I can imagine that for short visits the Queen makes use of local professionals.

Ah, okay, thank you.
I knew the ladies-in-waiting are no hairdressers, but I read somewhere (can't remember where exactly) that they knew how to deal with the jewelry.
Instead (I did some research), I think she has a special person for it, in Dutch that is called a 'kamernier', it's kind of a servant for Royal woman and she is responsible for Queen Máxima's clothes and her jewelry, and she even does Queen Máxima's hair sometimes. She always travels with the Queen, but we never see her, so we don't know who it is. She's kind of responsible for the look of the Queen. I mixed the ladies-in-waiting and this 'kamernier' up, I think.

I was quite disappointed by the dress code for the dinner. But still the Queen played the jewellery well. I especially liked the bow brooches in her hair, that was lovely. Just the dress was a bit too busy and distracting.

Queen Maxima's diamonds are stunning, were they given to her by the King or are they historic Dutch jewels?

This states visits are like any show u put on the stage I think! In a show u have dressers, make up artists , n dressers knows sawing in case anything needs repair! A lot of backstage people and I imagine here is the same! I'm sure she has somebody to open her luggage and acomadate her room, make sure her clothing is correct or need ironing, this aunt fits had been put together with what hat, shoes, jewellery handbag will go way before they travel so her assistant prepare everything so she can be relax and in time! And of course probably special security to take care of the jewellery not to get lost

Máxima paired her long emerald earrings with a cocktail dress with feathers for a concert in South Korea today.

* Upper part 1 ** Upper part 2 **
