It is clear that Maxima gets real pleasure out of wearing jewels, but I think Mary and Victoria seem to be quite happy in them as well.

Well, Maxima is also very lucky because
a) she marrie into a family with an exceptionally big jewellery collection
b) she has an exceptionally generous mother-in-law, who allowed her right from the beginning of her marriage to wear so many different pieces from the collection
c) she is living in a country where the public does not mind that the royal family desplays their bling

And we have to see, whether Mathilde now has a bigger jewel basket as Queen (not only the 9 Provinces Tiara, but also more necklaces etc - and I am still hoping for the jewel basket of Queen Fabiola for her).

Fair, though time will tell how much of the limited jewel collection of the BRF, and Queens Paola and Fabiola end up with Mathilde

I was wondering if someone could tell my why/or am I seeing this wrong, but the zipper is on the outside of the gown, yikes, is this done on purpose or what? Since when are zippers shown on the outside of clothes today and on evening wear, am I behind the times or what?
This a style that began a couple of years ago to have the zipper showing. This was just done really badly it looks horrible, it should have been sewn much neater.

The Belgians barely have necklaces, stomachers, brooches or bracelets and only a few diadems. When Princess Mathilde did attend the 40th birthday event for the Prince of Orange, she wore an interesting diamond necklace. On the Royal Jewels Message Board it was generally assumed that it was fake. The brooch was also no brooch but an application sewn on the dress. It remains to see what Queen Mathilde will get. Without the Nine Provinces Diadem, Queen Paola only has her diamond bandeau and a small diamond necklace.

Picture of Princess Mathilde with assumed 'fake' necklace and the application on the dress (looking like a broche), source ukpress.photoshelter.com : http://cdn.c.photoshelter.com/img-ge...em-40th-76.jpg

Imho, it was slightly too much for a black tie state banquett. So much going on in the vibrantly coloured, shiny, ruffled dress with that gigantic red bow! Rubies were a good choice for Poland. But maybe only one bracelet and smaller earrings? Or a simpler dress? This one looked more like it was made for roaring parties than state occasions.

But that tiara is a winner! I'm so glad that we see it again on a regular basis, after it disappeared for decades.

I'm not a big fan of The Ruby Peacock Tiara, the swirls being my least favourite part of it.It wonder can they be detached might not look as big without them.

I am also not a very big fan of the Ruby Peacock tiara, though I have to say it is a lot better in its current form than a previous version when the central piece was even higher.

Is there any information at all in the public domain as to the whereabouts of the matching necklace? Is that still with Princess Irene and / or her family?

Very few Royals ( and perhaps only Maxima in her generation) can pull off so many large jewels - thank goodness . It's always a joy to see her display these wonderful pieces. A peacock tiara is right for her :)

Yes I've just seen a photo of it in its higher version on an old photo of Queen Wilhelmina ,no mention of the necklace but the earrings are still around.
