Yes, being Queen is doing her good! :D At first, she allowed the earrings to return, no bracelets started to move in, let's hope for the return of necklaces as well. She also wore some nice pieces of jewellery that we've earlier seen on Queen Sofia. That is something I really enjoy to see, and I hope to see more of it. If only she'd vary her tiaras more often, that would be the icing on the cake.

Looks like she's got her jewel mojo back thank God,the bizarre jewel drought went on far too long.

Letizia's tiara appearances of 2017:

1 2 3 4 5

How great that she had this many tiara appearances when she usually has very few. Certainly the highlight of the year was her debut of the FDL tiara.

Is this brooch part of the Joyas de pasar collection? Or just another brooch in the family?

The pearl necklaces and the pearl brooches in the family confuse me a lot. Can anyone give me a good photo of the ones that are in Joyas de pasar?

Royal Jewels of the World Message Board: Las joyas de pasar-Queen Ena's last will

From Queen Ena's last will, published in one october 1987 Semana magazine, these were the jewels to be handed over to her son Juan and then to her grandson Juan Carlos (las joyas de pasar):

1-The Ansorena Fleur-de-Lys tiara
2-The big Diamond riviére
3-A neckace with 37 big pearls
4-A Diamond brooch having hanging from it the "La Peregrina" pearl
5-A pair of Diamond earring with a big Diamond on the center
6-Two matching bracelet
7-Four rows of big pearl
8-A brooch with a big grey pearl, hanging from it a pear shape pearl

Trying to find matching photos:

Victoria Eugenia wearing 1,2,5,6

Ena wearing 3,7 and the Peregrina Pearl.

not sure about the brooches, can anyone help?

Questions:

Is No.3 necklace the one with different size pearls, Very obvious bigger ones and smaller ones?
https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-b2n8HV26...WEWDhHp8gCEwYBhgL/s1600/2017-0712-joyas04.png

Is No.8 the one with two circles of small diamonds?

Because there is also another one with two circles of diamonds & pearls:

And the one Letizia wore on the National Day this year (single round of diamonds)

Which one is the No.4 brooch? Any of the above or not? I can't judge because the La Peregrina pearl can be detached and attached to anything...

The brooch Queen Letizia wore on nationalday is not a part of joyas de pasar, its a private brooch of Q.Sofia. ( i have seen Countess of Barcelona wearing a similiar brooch)

This is the "joyas de pasar" brooch, it can be worn with peregrina or without it.

I have a question about the pearl...........is that the same pearl that Elizabeth Taylor bought or someone bought for her at one that is very famous? I have the jewel book on Elizabeth's jewels and there is a famous pearl in it that is priceless........so I am wondering where that pearl is today or if this is the same one? Can't find that book right now as it is probably in a box as I still have to unpack books....?

If you are talking about La Peregrina ("The Pilgrim") pearl, I think it's commonly accepted that the one owned by Elizabeth Taylor is THE REAL ONE (historically speaking), and the one owned by the Spanish RF is not that particular one, but it is another big pearl. Someone once thought it was the Pilgrim Pearl hence the name.

The SpRF one is now called La Peregrina II sometimes to distinguish it from the Elizabeth Taylor one.

Ah, Thank you so very much Carina for letting me know. Yes it was that pearl that I was thinking of and today I wonder what happened to it when she past away. Elizabeth Taylor had one of the most beautiful jewelry collections ever....and she loved her jewels just like Queen Mary loved her jewels. :flowers: Nice to see that there are 2 of them and a way to identify them from each other.......seems like I remember that the 1st pearl was a bit larger then this one, will have to find my book now out of curiosity and check that pearl.?

You're welcome :winkiss:

I did some search on this pearl too before and the two pearls look quite different when you put them next to each other

An interesting article here about the confusion surrounding the pearls.

Speculation, at least from a few articles, is there is in fact three pearls. La Peregrina, Mary's pearl, and a third (which Sofia owns). The one owned by the London jeweler, which is said to have been Mary's (La Peregrina owned by Philip II but never worn by Mary by some claims) is actually the larger of the three.

While Le Peregrina vs the one owned in London is under debate, it seems to be strongly established that Elizabeth Taylor's was the original Peregrina, not the one in the current Spanish royal family.

2017 was a really good jewel year for Letizia and I'm hoping 2018 will be an even better one after many years of no jewels other than earrings.

During a state visit from Slovakia in october 2007 Leti wore a ruby necklace which remains is still a mystery for me. Many people think it is owned by queen sofia. Sofia wore this necklace just once after leti in 2009. Is it possible Leti or Sofia received it during an official visit from Saudi Arabia in June 2007? Leti was still in maternity leave and attend just a lunch. But wore the "new necklace" 4 months later.
In 2017 leti wore a pair of new ruby earrings many thought the earrings might be a part of the necklace which doubt at that time but now im not sure, middle east gifts usually include several pieces ( necklace, earrings, bracelet)

I'm so happy that she finally wears Queen Ena's pearl tiara. For years, royal watchers have speculated that it would be way too big for her, but imo it suits her well. The tiara is a whopper, for sure, but Queen Letiza found a good way to place it and looks lovely and regal. So that's the sixth tiara she has worn.

Great to see this tiara worn again and it looks stunning on Letizia tonight.

I'd like to think there is an element of 'stick THAT in your pipe, and smoke it' going on here ..
Bravo majestad !
