I loved that post. The detail in that brooch is breathtaking.

Cullinan Brooch

Anyone who subscribe to Majesty Magazine - this month they have a replica of the Cullinan III & IV ("Granny's Chips") which HM wore at the Jubilee Service. It looks to be a very nice copy but it is not cheap at UKP 80.00.

...yes I do have one on order!...

January 26 was the day the famous Cullinan Diamond was found, so a look at the Queen's brooches made from the nine numbered stones:

Cullinan VI and VIII Brooch
Cullinan III and IV Brooch (Granny's Chips)
Cullinan V Brooch (The Heart-Shaped Diamond)

And the Cullinans:
Cullinan IX (set into a platinum ring)
Cullinan II (set in the Imperial State Crown)
Cullinan I (set in the Sovereign's Sceptre with Cross)
Cullinan VII (hanging as a pendant from the Delhi Durbar Necklace)

History of the Cullinan stone.

Queen Elizabeth wore the Aquamarine Clips for today's opening of the new MRI unit at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn.
More on the brooch and it's history in this article: The Queen's Boucheron Aquamarine Clips.

My single most favourite brooch from the Queen's collection - the Brazilian Aquamarine Brooch. It's absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous.

I really like these. Not crazy about the fringe tiaras. I like the art deco feel to the pieces. Great pieces were made in the 20's. I know the aquamarines were not created in the 20's. Queen Mary was in high jewel buying mode. This is the reason QEII has so many pieces in the style.

I have to admit, The Brazilian Aquamarine Parure is pretty nice. I hope Camilla or Catherine would wear these in the future.

It's one of the most stunning brooches, I agree.
The whole parure is wonderful.

The Brazillian Auqamarine demi-parure is absolutely stunning. That color is exquisite.

Those aquamarines are really gorgeous, aren't they? And I agree, they would look great on both Camilla and Kate.

Another gorgeous brooch from the Queen's collection is the Cartier Lily Brooch. Or rather, it would have been gorgeous if it weren't so huge! Jewellery-wise, I'm normally in the camp "the bigger the better" but to be honest, this brooch is one of the pieces I can totally see dismantled in future.

Quote:
The Queen’s Cartier Lily Brooch
This jewel is the lesser famous of the Queen’s Lily Brooches (the more well-known sister being the Flame Lily Brooch) created by Cartier in 1939.
Ever since Edward VII issued a royal warrant to Cartier in 1904, it has designed many fabulous pieces for the British Royal Family. So many in fact that by 1937 the firm held 589 (!) loose diamonds on behalf of Queen Elizabeth (The Queen Mother).

You know, a jeweler could add some curve to the stem and make and improvement? Where are Alex and Mary when we need them for tips on jewelry reconstruction?

I don't think that would look right as this brooch is so long that it could look odd & droopy with a curve.

The brooch Her Majesty wore for yesterday's Sunday Service was the somewhat rarely seen larger Nizam of Hyderabad Brooch/.

The Nizam of Hyderabad Parure
Quote:
The three brooches that now remain from the Nizam of Hyderabad Tiara were originally detachable parts of the tiara. The larger brooch has a diameter of 4.2 cm, while the smaller ones are 3.3 each. All three are in the form of roses pave-set with diamonds.

Good in theory, not so good in execution. I wonder when we'll see her wear it.
I'd very happy to own that beautiful and and unusual piece of jewellery!

I'm not enthralled about the dove brooch, but absolutely love the diamond rose brooch. Thanks for the closeup photo, Artemisia.

I agree the Hyderabad parure was lovely.
Glad to see the necklace survives, and would love to see Camilla and Catherine use it in time.
