Yes, it seems a fish or some other sea creature. Maybe she choose to wear that brooch because the reception was at Fishmongers' Hall (so there's a connection with fishes)

She wore it to a dinner to commemorate the 90th birthday of the DoE at Fishmongers Hall in London

The Queen has worn several jewelled badges this last week. 2 in Scotland, and the Fishmongers Hall.

I'd love to see this as a hair ornament on one of the younger royals. Kate could rock it if she wore it in an unusual way. But I doubt it's likely, as this definitely seems to be a favorite of HM.

Wonder what brooch surprises The Queen might have for us, during her Australian tour of 11 days, starting this Wednesday.

See attached pictures of HM on arrival in Australia. Does anybody have any information as to the provenance of the brooch?

It is the Australian Wattle brooch. A gift, in 1954, to HMQEII from the Australian government.

This wattle brooch has many rare yellow diamonds in it. In this country we have a great many different species of native wattle trees. In June/July/August [our winter months] in many places the sides of the highways are in full bloom of yellow wattle. It is a pretty sight.

It is, especially for those who don't suffer from hay fever. Thankfully, I don't.

many thanks. I had thought the Wattle brooch had some darker stones in it, but clearly I was wrong.

I would imagine that the yellow diamonds would also be native to Australia. So many of the beautiful colored diamonds are mined. I am lucky to have a 1/4 carat pink from the Argyle.

Queen Elizabeth has worn a pearl brooch today in Canberra visiting the grounds of Government House:

Do you know something about it? I think I've never seen it before.
