Thanks for the information; I thought the last time the Emerald Brooch was worn was in December of 2009, for a dinner.

Today, for (another) Jubilee Pageant, Her Majesty wore the lovely Aquamarine Clips.
The Boucheron Aquamarine Clips were a gift from George VI and Queen Elizabeth on the occasion of the Queen's 18th birthday in 1944.
I was able to finally get a really good picture of the clips; it's basically the same as on the Royal Collection website, only larger and clearer.

Beautiful; I can just visualize them on the straps of an evening gown. Definitely a fantastic gift to receive on your 18th birthday.

She's in Northern Ireland today, so it's a shamrock brooch. The Queen knows how to flatter her hosts.

Indeed.
When you go into detail of the Queen's (and most often, other royal ladies') sartorial and jewellery choices, you really start to appreciate the thought and effort that's behind them - even though most often, they go unnoticed.

Looks to be a new brooch for the Queen - maybe it was a gift she received during the Irish state visit last year?

I know Peter Robinson was organising a gift for the Queen to commemorate her Jubilee, to be paid for by politicians who wanted to participate. Did we ever hear what they got her in the end? Maybe a nice brooch with a Northern Irish connection?

The Frosted Sunflower Brooch today...

It was the Frosted Sunflower (or Dahlia, as some prefer) today for Her Majesty's historic meeting.

Do you think she chose it for a symbolic meaning, or simply because that color she was wearing was a difficult match?

That's a lovely brooch and the setting nicely matches the gold embroidery on her hat and collar. She could have also chosen to wear one of her emerald brooches, i.e. Queen Mary's emerald brooch, but this is a good choice.

I don't think there is a symbolism behind the brooch; as Baroness said, it just goes really well with the embroidery on her hat and suit.

A close up of the brooch:

This could've gone in any of the Queen's jewellery threads, but this is the 1st one I saw.

This glorious video shows some of the diamonds that will be on display this summer at BP for the Diamond Jubilee. Nothing really new, but just enjoy the close ups and the twinkling as the pieces are rotated for the camera. I suppose you could call this diamond porn .

Actually, AdmirerUS may have been onto something when she thought HM wore the sunflower brooch in Ireland for a specific reason. It's a universal symbol of peace. This is just one link I found about it:

Here are more diamonds for you.

The Queen wore one of Queen Victoria's Bow Brooches when she attended the Bomber Command Memorial yesterday.
The brooch was commissioned by Queen Victoria and left to the Crown in her will; all Queens (Consort and Regnant) since have worn it on numerous occasions.

To read more about the brooch, read this blog entry.
