The tiara makes me laugh. Like something for a costume party. It is amazing that someone spent big money on this.

Those pieces were quite common back in the day, they were meant to be worn in front of huge hair pieces attached to ladies real hair. Does anybody know if this piece is the one Astrid is wearing or is it just a similar looking piece?

Can you please tell me, what "dress glasses" exactly are, how they do look like. Thank you in advance.

In the third picture explaining the The Vasa Tiara, is an example of dress (silver and jeweled) reading glasses. Princess Astrid was a very striking young lady without the glasses, imo.

Princess Astrid lost her style of HRH when she married Johan Martin Ferner on the 12th of January 1961.Since then she has been styled H.H.Princess Astrid,Mrs. Ferner.

They are only HH outside of Norway. On the Norwegian version of the royal website they are not styled HH or HRH. Astrid is Princess Astrid Frau Ferner.

The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor: Tiara Thursday: Queen Maud's Diamond Tiara

This tiara is stunning! A great piece of Victorian jewellery; grand but not too much. Love the gorgeous design of the base and the rows of diamonds. The diamond uprights are exquisite. This is one of the most beautiful tiaras I've ever seen!

Oh, I hope this tiara went back to the Royal Family. It would be a shame if such a beautiful and historically significant piece disappeared forever. Does anyone know if Ragnhild said how her jewels are going to be divided up?
