The pink ballgown Princess Grace wore to The Ball of the Century in 1966 is not made after a dress wore by Empress Elisabeth (Sissi). Princess Grace came as Empress Eugenie. I've also seen it in the exhibition in Monaco and it is stunning!!!
Franklin Mint made a doll, The Princess Grace Ball of the Century doll and they did a perfect job, the dress, the hair and the jewles are a perfect copy. It i sone of my favourite dolls in my collection. The parure Princess Grace is wearing (diamonts and saphires) are made by Van Cleef and Arples and they were on loan. These jewels do not belong to the Grimaldi Family.

A special exhibition featuring important pieces by Cartier has opened in Tokyo. The exhibits include some items belonging to Princess Grace.

A more detailed article about the Cartier pieces owned by Princess Grace currently on exhibition in Tokyo. Does anyone have a picture of the Poodle brooch?

I never understood that decision. The jewels should be left to the "family" the grimaldis as whole. What will Albert, Andrea,Pierre wives shall wear as "The" Princess de Monaco
whom ever succeed Albert
what ever happened to that ruby and diamond tiara/neclace combo PGrace wore in Versaille

Grace didn't have a huge collection of jewels and nor was she particularly interested in them. She was very sentimental about the pieces Rainier gave her over the years, but that was about it.
Caroline has far more jewels than her mother ever did. Either way, the Grimaldis are one of the wealthiest royal families in Europe and can buy all the jewels they need or want for any new wives.

Maybe Grace didn't want to wear Charlotte's tiara b/c of feelings toward Charlotte, or vice versa.

That is a really good point that I had not considered. I do believe you might be on to something....

Guys, could we leave this thread for the discussion of jewellery please.
I've removed quite a few posts extolling Princess Grace's personal virtues as they can be discussed elsewhere.
thanks,

It would have been lovely to have seen Grace wear the fringe necklace as either a tiara or necklace.
Here's hoping Charlene (should she wed Albert) will do it jutice!

Does anyone have photos of Princess Grace wearing the teardrop pearl necklace that her father in law gave to her as a wedding gift? It is a large pearl with a little crown on it.

The design of the "scroll" Cartier tiara designed for Princess Charlotte looks like interlaced "C"s so maybe it would have been inappropriate for Grace to wear her mother-in-law's tiara of "C"s. If it is not "C"s perhaps Princess Grace just did not want to wear a tiara specifically designed for another princess.

I'm rather interested in the necklace which has an egyption/deco design. The combination of jewels is exciting

Grace bejewelled!
I haven't come across this pic before.
Courtesy of the Stirred, Straight Up, With a Twist blogspot (great name!).
-> Princess Grace with some sparklers
(big hair, big jewels, or as the above blog succinctly puts it: "We adore a princess with hair as big as her principality".)

If I remember correctly, the photo posted by Warren was taken on the occasion of the centennial celebration of the Casino Monte Carlo building in 1963:
A costume ball indeed, with the style of 1863 (for obvious reasons) as its chosen theme.

I am sure Charlène will wear perfectly the Albert's part jewelry .
If her engagement was known officialy she should have worn a tiara for Victoria's wedding.
