All of Grace's jewelry was left to Caroline, who shares it with Stephanie when she asks for it.
Charlotte's tiara was left to Rainier and Grace never wore it.

I seem to recall that the Grimaldi family considered tiaras as bad luck. I don't have a source for that. But while other ruling families might consider the princely family of Monaco as B-list royalty I think the Grimaldi family is made of hearty stock and doesn't need all those big jewels that others use to 'remind' the world that they are important. And the princely family actually rules Monaco rather than simply reign over it.
But I still love seeing those pics of fabulous jewels. And I think that HSH Princess Grace looked even more beautiful the older she became.

Passing on a request from a new member:
But I know when I did a research paper my senior year, 85, there was a photo of HSH Grace seated in a salmon dress with a stunning tiara, but I can't find it anywhere.
She's looking for good photos of Princess Grace in a tiara, preferably showing details of the tiara so that it can be used as the basis for an accurate description. Most of the photos in this thread don't show that much detail, and I'm wondering if any of our photo experts recognise the above description of the tiara and could lay their hands on the photo in question.
Thanks!

In answer to the request, a photo of this 'big' tiara was just posted on the GREMB, here's the link (bottom pic):
Glittering Royal Events Message Board: Pictures
The occasion was the 'Century Ball' in Monte Carlo 1966, a costume ball where everybody dressed in the 1866 fashion. I hope this helps but I am afraid that all of the jewelry Princess Grace wore on this occasion was on loan, certainly the tiara.

Some of Grace's Jewels will be on display at the Diamond Museum in Antwerp in the Diamond Diva's exhibition.
Here's the article I found (in dutch): http://www.gva.be/nieuws/Media_Cultu...C-487E0B4B2177}
Her engagement ring, a Cartier art-deco rivière neckless and 3 Cartier pins.
Strangly enough I didn't find any information on Grace and her jewels on the Diamond Diva website.

I came across this picture of Princess Grace's engagement ring.
(Page down - it is after the Wayne Rooney wedding and Jerry Hall articles)

Wow. Thank you LadyS. It's amazing. It looks like she would have trouble lifting her hand. Do you know if this is the ring Rainier gave her as a "friendsship" ring before the actual engagement ring was ready, or if that is the actual engagement ring?

At The Ball of The Century in 1966 Princess Grace wore a Diamond an Saphire parure. I've never seen Princess Grace wear it again or before that ball.
Does anybody know what happened to it or where it cam from?
Thank you

It's my understanding that when Rainier married Grace, he was a fairly impoverished prince in need of the dowery from her parents. Were the diamonds in her ring recycled from older Grimaldi pieces, or did he purchase a new piece including the large diamond for her?

"Rules" Monaco? You better believe it! I think that the Monaco police are aware of every single thing that goes on there.
I would think that IF and WHEN Albert marries, that Caroline would turn over the important jewels to Albert's bride so as to keep them in the family --- sort of like they belong to the Principality and not necessarily the family.

The very grand parure was on loan for this single occasion. I would have to look up, but if I remember correctly, it was loaned by jewelers Van Cleef & Arpels.

Thank you Boris for the info!
What a pitty they don't belong to the Grimaldi Family, this Parure is so beautiful ( I love Saphires , they are so "Royal") I've never seen anything like it! It would have been great to see Princess Caroline wear parts of it or even Charlotte.
Perhaps Prince Albert will add (saphires) to the collection of Royal jewels one day.

I seem to recall that I read in a book or something that when Princess Grace died she did leave her jewelry to Caroline.
When Stefano died, Caroline discovered that he had many debts, so she had to sell some jewelry to cover the debts.
(She also discovered that Stefano had a mistress, but that is for a different thread)

I doubt Caroline ever had to sell any jewelry to cover her husband's debts. The family is one of the richest in Europe and is worth close to $2 billion. Even when her father was still alive, Caroline and her siblings all had substantial trusts set-up by Rainier to provide for them.

I finally found a picture of Grace's fringe tiara. It was on exhibit of her jewels. There is also another mystery tiara which looks like a converted necklace.

The diamond fringe necklace is often worn by Princess Caroline and belonged to her grandmother, Princess Charlotte, who usually wore it as a tiara, typical of the style during the 20's, across the forehead.
The other tiara was a diamond necklace purchased by Rainier for Grace from Van Cleef & Arpels. She wore it on a frame as a tiara, but Caroline only wears it as a necklace.

WOW! Thanks for the beautiful pictures, I wonder if her daughters ever get to "borrow" any of the jewels?
