Thanks for the pics, Humera. Very interesting pieces of jewelry. Some of which (I presume - diamond/ruby necklace and earings) are rather unusual as well. Although photos can't always be flattering, Lalla Meryem indeed is a beautiful and elegant lady.
Lovely pictures, thanks Humera.
In the first three pictures, I don't see Meryem wearing often those earings and necklace, maybe they were a gift from Hillary Clinton. I don't know their details but I beleive they aren't diamond if it was a gift.
Meryem gave a Moroccan dress as a gift to Hillary Clinton.

I didnt know that story.
That was a nice gesture indeed, on the part of both Hillary and Meryem.

I heard about first ladies changing gifts ... I saw a picture of Rania giving a very simple neckalce to Hillary Clinton. Now about Meryem earring/necklace, I always thought it was a gift from Hillary, maybe because of the color red/blue like the US flag color ... but can't really remember.
If someone knows about that necklace/earring, please confirm. Thanks.
I put down salma picture in paris 2003. The earrings look bit similar to hasna' earrings in the last post. The only difference I see is in red pieces hasna' earring don't have.
The earings that both Lalla Hasna and Lalla Salma wearing are the traditionnal moroccan earings:) that's why they look alike...it's part of the moroccan heritage ...
And the magic Moroccan gold belts ... Down are pictures of salma with gold belt and other style.
I guess it's unique to wear a belt made of Gold. That remember me of Rania' gold shoes, but maybe the Moroccan gold belt had Ottoman origin. The link down says Ottoman women wore belts made/set with jewels.
Belts and sashes (uçkur)
...
Sashes were made of a folded and seamed length of linen, measuring approximately 2m long by 15 cm wide. They featured elaborate gold-embroidered end panels, around 12-15 cm long.
Several 16th belts in the Topkapi Saray Museum are presumed to be women’s. They are of ivory, silver or mother of pearl plaques, joined by links or mounted on leather. The are elaborately decorated with gold or silver scrollwork, and set with jewels. Their length would indicate they were worn around the waist, not the hips.
Meryem belt style. Pictures show small to medium size (compare to the one salma wore in previous post) ... yet Meryem belts are not always made fully of gold ... it's true beauty is also in simplicity
wonderful pictures abir
I love the last one of the pearl/diamond earings and ring. Absolutely beautiful!
Yes they are stunning :)
As we noticed the princesses don't wear (often) their Tiara ... Hasna in blue with her father to US state visit in 1995, she wears her wedding earrings and necklaces ... definetlly beautiful and suits well the dress.
