All the tiaras and hair pieces in the Kent collection (that I am aware of):

Kent Festoon Tiara
Kent Aquamarine Tiara
Cambridge Sapphire Parure
Kent Diamond and Pearl Tiara
Kent Diamond Circles Bandeau
Kent City of London Fringe Tiara *
Princess Alexandra’s Tiara and Parure
Other Hair Pieces and Tiaras of the Kent Family

* A little note on the Kent Fringe Tiara: it is popularly believed to be the tiara that Marina wore on her wedding day but that's incorrect. Marina in fact wore her mother's (very similar) fringe tiara. You can find side-by-side pictures in the article.

Now that's an interesting circle bandeau. It looks better suited as a necklace, though I do like how Princess Marina wears in the photo. I love the setting and the size of the pearls are just magnificent. The Festoon tiara is quite imposing as well. Thanks for posting all that luscious jewelry, Artemisia.

Thank you Artemesia - wonderful collection.

I prefer the Aquamarine in its original form - beautiful; and the Festoon is my favourite.

Sad to think that there are few occasions when the Kents can wear these and so I think that the majority, over time, will be sold.

I think Princess Alexandra still wear a great deal of her jewels when she attends The Royal Diplomatic Corps Reception and State Banquets. Unforunately, pictures and videos at these events are very limited and you don't see the royals in their regalia.

Princess Michael of Kent also wear her jewels.

Great photo's and information above,I never realized that Princess Alexandra only has the use of 1 tiara, seems unfair that her mother left the bulk of her jewels to her 2 sons.

But over time these occasions will go as none of the Kents will carry out royal duties - same with the Gloucesters. Sad - it will be the passing of an era for both families.

Yes that's true as after the deaths of the present Dukes of Kent and Gloucester, they will no longer be royal dukedoms!

Wonder what will become of all those jewels?

I hope they don't suffer the sad fate of other jewels that get sold out of noble families, many times due to the state of finances or because there's just no need for these magnificent jewels any longer.

My guess is that a great deal of the jewels will go back to The Queen. I think since the minor royals won't be wearing the jewels in the future, we might see some of them used by Camilla, Catherine and Sophie.

Only if the Queen buys them - the Kent jewels belong to the individual Kents, not the Queen

I am glad you enjoyed the articles.

Unfortunately, I think it is more or less inevitable most of the jewels will be sold by the next generation of Gloucesters and Kents: apart from not needing them any more (as non-working members of the Royal Family there will be very few occasions when they might have the chance to don grand jewellery), there is also the inheritance tax - the main reason most of the jewels get sold in the first place.

With few exceptions, all those jewels are the personal possessions of individual members of the Kent family: they will not go back to the "main" line unless the Queen buys them, which is unlikely since she already has an immense collection at her disposal.

Oh okay, I thought those were jewels The Queen lent to the Kents. Then I guess if The Queen don't want to see some pieces go to auction, she may grab some things. Sad to think the stuff could be sold at some point. The monor royals don't attend official regalia events.

Marina believed it was the husbands responsibility to provide his wife with jewels.

I have found this photograph online - it seems to show the late Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent wearing 2 Sapphire brooches !!! The Queen Mother it seems had one of them, I guess by inheritance!

The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor: Tiara Thursday: The Ogilvy Tiara

I really love this tiara. Very lovely and elegant design. I also love the pearl and sapphire versions, however I don't like the turquoise version. I think this tiara is simply beautiful and timeless. One of my favorites of the Kent jewels.

It is wrong to call it an Ogilvy Tiara, it is the tiara belonging to HRH Princess Alexandra of Kent, the hon Lady Ogilvy.

And as her married name is Ogilvy, it's completely appropriate to call it that, since its an individually owned tiara with no other provenance that we're aware of.

Oh but we are aware of the provenance, the tiara was created from a circlet owned by the Princess before her marriage. By calling it the Ogilvy Tiara it implies that it is part of the jewel collection of the Earls of Airlie.

Does anyone know when Princess Alexandra wore this tiara and reading some of the comments does she still own it?
