Grimaldi Family Jewels

There is an interesting discussion going on on the RJWMB about the Monaco fringes:
Royal Jewels of the World Message Board

It was made quite clear, the the necklace worn by Princess Caroline is not identical to the fringe tiaras worn by Princess Charlotte and Tatiana. But members there disagree about whether Tatianas tiara is a new piece or the one worn by Princess Charlotte.

She is a stunning winter bride and I just love to see a Grimaldi tiara being worn again, no matter what the occasion.

Wait a second, did I miss something? I thought Tatiana and Andrea got married a while back. Did they have another wedding???

This is their religious ceremony, preceded by the civil one several months ago.

I agree, the tiara that Tatiana wears does not look like the same tiara or necklace that Princess Caroline wears.

My first reaction was they're not the same, and reading the discussion on the Royal Jewels Board, I still hold this view. However, I don't see the problem with the tiara being on loan from a jeweller. Yes the family could afford to buy a new tiara , but Tatiana is unlikely to need one. Perhaps Princess Charlotte's fringe tiara is not wearable without restoration, perhaps it has already been broken up. The necklace Caroline wears may not easily convert, so perhaps a loan was the best option.
The clips on the cloak interest me too - does anyone recognise these as a Grimaldi heirloom?

Well picking up on the discussion on the Royal Jewel forum, there are fewer spikes in the necklace and there doesn't appear to be the smaller inbetween spikes in the fringe tiara that Tatiana wears.

It's the same one as Princess Caroline's.

I don't think we can be certain - I can see evidence for a different conclusion. Wouldn't it be a refreshing change if they just came out and told us.

Wouldn't it be even nicer if they did a little tv-tribute 'our jewelry' and just showed us all the various bling they have
...drool....:p

Ah ok thank you. It seems a bit strange though to have the civil and religious ceremonies so far apart. Usually they are within days of each other. Back on the subject, I do believe this is Caroline's fringe tiara but to me it looks like it has been altered a little bit. Tatiana does not seem like the kind to wear big, expensive jewelry let alone buy a tiara of her own. I'm actually surprised we are even seeing her in a tiara to be honest. It sure is a delight!

Antoinette de Merode married Charles III of Monaco. As part of her dowry from her father, Count Werner de Merode, did she not receive a tiara?

Did the late Princess Antoinette of Monaco, Baroness de Massy own a tiara I did a search and found nothing? Also very little is known of Princess Antoinette's jewels and if she had any historic pieces maybe left to her from her mother or from Ghislaine Dommanget?

Here is a collage to compare the fringe tiaras worn by Princess Charlotte and Tatiana Santo Domingo and the fringe necklace of Princess Caroline.

Neither of the tiara pictures is very clear, but I think one can still see that the shape of the spikes is different from the spikes of the necklace. The smaller spikes of the necklace end in larger, pear shaped diamonds. The large spikes also have rather particular tips which differ from the tiara spikes.

Imo, these are at least two, if not three different jewels. I’m not sure about the two tiaras. The frame might be flexible so that it can be worn both in the halo-like fashion of Tatiana, or very closely together as can be seen on Princess Charlotte. When I try to count the spikes it seems that Charlotte’s tiaras has slightly more than Tatiana’s. But then I think that this might be deceiving because of the angle and the position of the tiaras.

It would a real treat if the ladies of the Princely Family started to wear tiaras again for National Day,I think the late Princess Grace used to?

Maybe this has already been answered but why didn't Grace wear a tiara at her wedding? We know she received at least 3 tiaras as gifts...

I would love them to do that! But I don't see any chance that Charlene will do us the favour.

Afaik, Grace also wore tiaras for Red Cross and Rose Balls (at least sometimes).

Oh I'd love to see Charlene show off tiaras! But I lost all my hopes... She only wore it once for a magazine photoshoot and not even the tiniest one to attend Madeleine's wedding... Why?

I finally found a photo of Princess Charlotte wearing the pearl tiara here.

If the rumors are true, then it seems that this is Beatrice's engagement ring. Interesting design but I don't like the ring.

This is Lady Mary Victoria Hamilton, wife of Prince Albert the first. She is sporting several sumptuous jewels among which is also a fringe necklace. Though I don't think that it is a match to Caroline's fringe necklace, which seems to have fewer spikes.

I agree that this fringe necklace doen't looke like the one worn by Princess Caroline. But on the other hand we don't know if this necklace remained with her Grimaldi descendatsn as after her divorce from Princ eAlbvert I. she remarried with Prince Tasisilo Festetics of Tolna. With him she had four children so it could well be that this fringe necklace was inherited by one of them.

Her collection of earrings is simply to die for, especially the ones in photos 4, 5 and 6 from the top!:whistling:
