Here is a bigger version with much better zoom:

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5vfnS-1A7H...axis_cover.jpg

The tiara in the portrait looks like French tiara, not Thurn und Taxis, but I am not sure who the lady in the portrait is so it would be easier to track down the jewels. It is painted in 1887,that's only what can be seen.

Could it be Princess Clotilde of Coburg with this nose? She was great grandmother of Prince Johannes von Thurn und Taxis.

It seems like modern jewellery. What a pity, with all those lovely old jewels in the vault.

The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor: Tiara Thursday: The Habsburg Sapphire Parure (With Bonus Auction Treasures)

An amazing parure! It's incredibly regal, elegant and majestic. The necklaces are also stunning.

It is a stunning tiara, although it's been written on some of the jewel boards that the screws visible through those fabulous emeralds deter the look. I do have to agree, but if I was offered this tiara, I wouldn't turn it down for a second.

Interesting that it started out in Prussia and then ended again in Prussia after having been in the royal Houses of the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark

There will be almost no chance to see it on some royal person again. :-(
