I think this tiara is just stunning. I love the kokoshnik shape, the large diamonds, and the grand design. I am not really a fan of the Greek key design but this tiara is fantastic overall. To me, this tiara is regal and magnificent.
It really suits Grand Duchess Kira Kirillovna of Russia the best, maybe its the old court dress and veil.

Because she was officially a Princess von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg,no matter where she lived, whose grand-daughter she was...she was considered a member of the British family, but not the member of reigning dynasty itself...so,she had to belong somewhere agnatically and she belonged to the dynasty her father belonged to,a German one...simple.

So far, I don't see the differences. Could you give a link to that other Forum? I'd love to read that discussion.

Of course. It's Alexander Palace Forum. Here is the link:

Carl Edward (Karl Eduard) Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Duke of Albany & family

The bondings between the main part of the tiara are a bit different...in Viktoria Adelheid's tiara the look connected and have a bit different shape, while in Maria Alexandrovna's tiara they are standing on it's own,not connected to the main parts...

Of course, you might also be right because we don't have a closer look of Viktoria Adelheid's tiara to see the details...

Does anyone have pictures/knowledge of pieces owned by the von Thurn und Taxis family?

Thanks for sharing those great finds, Marc23! Both pictures are new to me.
Princess Marita seems to wear the same tiara that her sister Princess Ingeborg wore at her wedding in 1991.

This looks lovely... It would be nice to see simply a tiara picture in order to see what it looks like without the fabric and hair..

Thank you for this picture,it is also new to me and I am happy to know that various royal jewels still stayed in the families-that they didn't have to sell them

Albert (1867-1952) was the eighth Prince of Thurn and Taxis.
He married the Archduchess Margarethe Klementine of Austria on July 15, 1890.
Albert purchased the Empress Eugenie Tiara as a wedding present for Margarethe.
The tiara was part of the French crown jewels.

The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor: Tiara Thursday: The Bavarian Sunburst Tiara

As I said before, this tiara is one of the worst I have ever seen. I think the design is just awful and too much. The amethyst demi-parure is absolutely breathtaking however! That shade of purple is exquisite!

Here is one more Hesse tiara, worn by Princess Yvonne(cousin of Princess Michael of Kent),although it reminds me of Schoenburg-Glauchau tiara:

Thank you for posting another beautiful picture, Marc23!
It is funny that you compare this tiara to the Schönburg-Glauchau tiara, because the daughter of Yvonne, Irina von Hessen, wore the Hesse floral tiara on her wedding to a Schönburg-Glauchau count.
The Hesse tiara is very high and lofty, unlike the smaller and denser Schönburg-Glauchau tiara. Countess Sophie von Schönburg-Glauchau wore it to her wedding last year:

Are you sure it is a Schönburg-Glauchjau tiara? So far i have only seen it worn by Sophie at her Wedding last year and by her mother Marie Louise, née Princess of Prussia. So it could also come from the prussians or from Marie Louise's mother, a born Countess Hoyos.

Well, I am pretty convinced that Princess Louise's sister-in-law, Countess Beatrix (the mother of Gloria von Thurn und Taxis), wore the same tiara at her own wedding. So the tiara can't be from Princess Marie Louise's family.

Here is a comparison pic of Countess Beatrix, Princess Louise (at the big Prussian wedding) and Countess Sophie. The wedding picture of Countess Beatrix is not very clear, the tiara obscured before the veil, but I still think that it is a floral tiara, and the outline and size of the jewel also match, imo.
