They don't need to match the color of the dress. She's worn the Ruby Parure with many color dresses that you wouldn't think would work with the red of the jewels, but they do.
She looked fine.

This is why it's called 'opinion', Sister Opium! We're all entitled to one.

It's Sister Morphine. It's the name of a Rolling Stones' song.

Do you think there is any awkwardness in wearing former Swedish Royal Jewels to a royal function in Sweden?

I have also noticed...
the pearls Mary used with her rubies this time are not the same as before
in Denmark. They are more golden and slightly more rounded. I would say they are from her MDulong butterfly earrings.

No. Frederik's late grandmother was a Swedish princess and brought those jewels with her when she married his grandfather. I actually think considering the jewels' history/lineage, it was very appropriate for her to wear them.

No Ingrid did not bring that parure to Denmark. It was in the Danish royal family generations before Ingrid married the late king Frederik IX.
A bit funny how much attention the Swedish origin of this parure is attracting. If the history of most tiaras/parures in European royal houses were all traced, we would probably see a flurry of cross-border activity for the vast majority of them.

She has a ruby and diamond wedding ring, if this is the one you are referring to.

I think that ruby ring she was wearing on her right hand is part of the Parure, along with the tiara, brooch, bracelet, earrings and necklace.

The ruby parure doesn't include a ruby and diamond ring. The right hand ring is probably new.

Wrong again, I'm afraid.
The ruby parure was originally given to Princess Lovisa of Sweden when she married Denmark's Frederik VIII in 1869 and were later given to Ingrid as a wedding present in 1935 by her parents in law.

Ayvee, the necklace she wore with the nude dress the second night, do you have any idea what the stone is? It does not really appear to have any color to it. TIA for you time and answer.
On the new ring and possible new bracelet. WTG Mary!

I think ayvee will agree...
the stone in the necklace is a morganite and so are the earrings. they are a light peach color.
as for the ruby ring, wasnt she wearing this on the eve of her wedding? thats why I was thinking she borrowed it from the Queen, but I would love it if its new!!

I did not mean my comment in a negative way; lots of people think that Ingrid brought the parure to Denmark. I actually thought so too, until I read some of the jewel savy posters on the various royal boards - so don't feel bad about it.

At Victoria's wedding the lighting was daylight, the colour of her hair is several shades lighter, the bottom rung of the tiara is exposed silver, the tiara is worn higher to let more light through and the ends of the tiara are covered by her updo.

The design is different, the top leaf now has dissapeared. Two new photos to see it better:

Bjarne, one of the jewel expert posters at the Royal Jewels Message Board and the author of a book on the jewellery in the Danish royal family, confirmed during a similar discussion at the jewellery board that a slight alteration has recently been made to the tirara.
