Default Six Princesses of Luxemburg infos & pics

Does anybody have infos and pics about the six daughters (Marie-Adelheid, Charlotte, Hilda, Antonia, Elisabeth and Sophie) of the Grand Duc Guillaume IV of Luxemburg and his wife Marie Anne, born princess of Bragance ?
I'am interested particulary in them and would like to know the destiny of each one of them.
Thanks.

Maire-Adelaidine - succeded her father 1912 , durning WWI she had a good relationship with the Germans that occupied Luxembourg. Following WWI political pressure forced her to abdicate and she became a nun. Never married and died in 1924.

Charlotte- succeded her sister as Grand Duchess in 1919. Married Felix of Bourbon-Parma, lived in London durning WWII she had six children including the Grand Duke Jean. She abdicated in 1964 and died in 1985.

Antonia- married Rupprecht, Crown Prince of Bavaria. They had six children. During WWII Rupprecht was given the chance to be King of Bavaria he refused because he was against the Nazi reigeme. When in exile in Hungary Antonia and there children were arrested and sent to a concentration camp, although they were eventually freed Antonia died a few years later.

I don't know much about the other sisters.

A German website says that princess Hilda married Adolf Johann Maria Franz-Joseph Hubertus Agapit Fürst zu Schwarzenberg (1890-1950) on october 29th 1930 at Schloss Berg (I found that it's not Schloß Berg at the lake of Starnberg south of Munich, where king Ludwig II. of Bavaria died so mysteriously, but the castle of Colmar-Berg, where the princess was born). Princess Hilda wore the Empire Diamond tiara to her wedding.

A picture of Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wearing the tiara can be seen here:
http://www.royal-magazin.de/luxembur...ria-teresa.htm There's a wedding picture of princess Hilda (who died in 1979) as well.

Here are faximile pages of a newspaper of Luxembourg with the report about the wedding of princess Hilda:
http://www.bnl.lu/cgi-bin/luxonline....ue=21&page=321 If you exchange the last nr. 321 to 322 ff, then you can read the rest of the article (in German).

Elisabeth, Princess Ludwig Philipp of Thurn und Taxis, née Princess of Luxemburg (1901-1950). Princess Elisabeth had only one surviving child:
Iniga Anne Margarete Wilhelmine Luise Prinzessin von Thurn und Taxis was born on 25 August 1925 in Schloss Niederaichbach.2 She is the daughter of Ludwig Philipp Prinz von Thurn und Taxis and Elisabeth Marie Wilhelmine von Nassau-Weilburg, Princesse de Luxembourg.2 She married Eberhard Prinz von Urach, son of Wilhelm Karl Herzog von Urach and Amalie Maria Herzogin in Bayern, on 18 May 1948 in Niederaichbach, Germany, in a civil marriage. Iniga Anne Margarete Wilhelmine Luise and Eberhard were remarried in a religious ceremony on 20 May 1948 in Regensburg, Germany.
Her children (grandchildren of Princess Elisabeth) are:
1. Amelie Prinzessin von Urach+ b. 6 Apr 19492
2. Elisabeth Prinzessin von Urach b. 10 Dec 19522
3. Karl Anselm Prinz von Urach+ b. 5 Feb 19552
4. Wilhelm Prinz von Urach+ b. 9 Aug 19572
5. Eberhard Friedrich Inigo Prinz von Urach+ b. 12 Apr 1962

Sophie, Princess Ernst Heinrich of Saxony (1902-1941)

She was accused with being a bit too friendly to the invading Germans during World War I.

Here is the picture of Hilda who was not visible at the time of my preceding post :

She was, in my opinion, after Marie Adelheid and Charlotte, the most beautiful and the most gracious of the six sisters.

The six Princesses's parents :

Wilhelm IV (1852-1912) who became Grand Duke on the death of his father Adolphe on November 17, 1905

and Marie Anne of Portugal (1861-1942) who was
a Braganza Princess and a daughter of the deposed
King Miguel I of Portugal

Wilhelm married Marie Anne on June 21, 1893.

Unhappy

I don't know what exactly died the Grand Duke Wilhelm IV but it seems that he was very early reached - since 1908 and can be even front - of long and cruel disease which curtailed his reign.

i wondered about Princess Antonia. To what concentrationcamp did they send her? Did she receive a 'special treatement' there or did she live in barracks with other victims of the Nazi's? I never knew her children were imprisoned as well, must have been quite traumatising to them. What happened to Duke Albrecht in the mean time btw?

Is it true that she was arrested and escorted by Prince Josias of Waldeck-Pyrmont?

On July 27 1944 the Gestapo took Antonia and her three youngest daughters into custody together with Paula von Bellegarde,. They were interrogated about the whereabouts of Rupert, but fortunately they did not know anything. Editha was also arrested in Florence and brought to her mother and sisters at San Martino do Castrozza. They stayed until August when they were takrn to Plan de Gralba. Next they were transported north, and on October 13 arriving at the Sachsenhausen concentration camp in Germany and registered under the surname - Buchholz. They were assigned to one of a number of small houses in the camp which were used for prominent prisoners. Antonia like Irmingard had typhus and they were sent to the same hospital in Innsbruck. From Innsbruck they were transported to another hospital in Seefeld. Antonia became sick again and was sent to a hospital in Jena near Leipzig. On early April American army entered to Jena and Antonia was found by a military offices from Luxemburg. Next her brother-in-law Prince Felix of Bourbon-Parma came and took her back to Luxemburg.
The rest of her family - Princes Albert and family + halfsisters stayed in Sachsenhausen and on April 8, 1945, they were moved to Dachau concentration camp.

Thank you for posting this link. The historical facts seem to be correct - but just one thing: the site is a "Jacobite"-site, meaning the owners support the claim that the Crown of England and Scotland should have been inherited through the line of king James VI. of Scotland/James I. of England's granddaughter Henriette Marie, duchess of Orleans instead of his daughter Elizabeth Stuart (whose descendants are the current Royal family). Jacobites ignore that Henriette Marie renounced her claims to the thrones of England and Scotland for herself and her children on her marriage to the French king's brother while her aunt's rights to the succession were restored to her by Henriette Marie's brother king Charles II. of England and Scotland when Elizabeth and her son Rupert (who became a loyal, highly decorated and successful admiral for childless king Charles II.) came back to live in London. So for the Jacobites Crown Prince Rupprecht (Rupert) of Bavaria was king Rupert of Great Britain with Crown Princess Antonia of Bavaria, his wife as his queen. Thus the way to present the persons with titles they actually did not held.

Of all the children of princess Elizabeth Stuart only her daughter, electress Sophia of Hanover, left issue with unrenounced inheritance rights - through which the current Royal family is descended
