Default Sisters Of Grand Duchess Charlotte

Hello,

I'm new to this board (wonderful place, don't know why I didn't find it earlier!) and I had a question about the sisters of Grand Duchess Charlotte. I've noticed that several of them died quite young. Does anyone know the causes? I believe one of them was quite badly treated during the war.

Thanks!

I read that Princess Sophie (1902-1941) was killed in a bus-accident .

Princess Antonia (1899-1954) was married to Crown Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria (1869-1955). She and her children were arrested by the Nazis in July of 1944. Antonia was later found in a hospital near Buchenwald. I heard that she never recovered physically or mentally from the ill treatment she received from the Nazis. I am not sure how she died.

Charlotte's title was Grand Duchess Charlotte of Luxemburg. Here is some info on her and her sisters:

(1) Grand Duchess Marie Adelaide (1894-1924)
-She abdicated in favor of her sister, Charlotte on Jan. 14, 1919.
-She abdicated in order to enter a convent where she became a nun.
(2) Grand Duchess Charlotte (1896-1985)
-Married Prince Felix of Bourbon-Parma (1893-1970)
-Mother of Grand Duke Jean (1921- )
(3) Princess Hilda (1897-1979)
-Married Prince Adolf of Schwarzenberg (1890-1950)
(4) Princess Antonia (1899-1954)
-Married Crown Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria (1869-1855)
(5) Princess Elisabeth (1901-1950)
-Married Prince Ludwig Philip of Thurn and Taxis (1901-1933)
(6) Princess Sophia (1902-1941)

I will try to explain it to you. Grand Duchess Charlotte was the Grandmother of the present Grand Duke Henri of Luxemburg. She ruled as Grand Duchess until 1969, when she abdicated in favor of her son, Jean. Grand Duke Jean ruled until he abdicated on Oct. 7, 2001 in favor of his son, Henri.

The people I mentioned in my prior posts are the sisters of Grand Duchess Charlotte. This thread was started because someone wanted to know why Charlotte's sisters died young.

Sad that all of her sisters had died young but there were some great pictures of the grand duchess with her sisters.
