:previous: LadyFinn, Thank you for submitting this painting. Josefina and Eugenie could pass as sisters!

King Carl XIV Johan had only one son, Crown Prince Oscar. Before Crown Prince Oscar married, who was the heir to the throne after Prince Oscar?

There was no one else but Crown Prince Oscar. Many members of the aristocracy were still in favour of the son of the deposed King Gustav IV Adolf, Crown Prince Gustav so had something happened to the Bernadotte heir maybe he had been recalled to Sweden.
This not insignificant support for the Holstein-Gottorps is the major reason for King Karl XIV Johan's paranoia which in the end led him to persuade the European powers to pressure Gustav to relinquish his Swedish title and receive the title of Prince of Vasa from the Emperor of Austria.

Charles XIV was referred to as "King of Sweden and Norway".
In matters relating to Norway, Oscar I was referred to as "King of Norway and Sweden".
