King Erik IX made marriage proposals to Renata of Lorraine, the daughter of Francis I, Duke of Lorraine, and Mary, Queen of Scots.

Eric the 9th died in 1160 and Renata of Lorraine lived in the 16th century as did Mary Queen of Scots.
