King Alfonso XIII of Spain

It is sad that King Alfonso XIII blamed Victoria Eugenie for bringing the hemophilia into the Spanish royal family.
What is ironic is that he had been so determined to marry her.
He fought the obstacles. Victoria became Catholic. Her uncle, King Edward VII, raised her style to Royal Highness.
However, no one could undo the hemophilia.

On the occasion of the centenary of the First World War, National Heritage and the Banco Santander Foundation, present the exhibition "Letters to the King. The humanitarian mediation of Alfonso XIII in the Great War ", in the Temporary Exhibition Rooms of the Royal Palace of Madrid.

The exhibition reflects the key figure of King Alfonso XIII in the benefactor action, practically unknown, but which was of enormous human and diplomatic importance in the struggle of the early twentieth century, especially with Belgium, France or Germany.

I know that King Alfonso did his very best to mediate an exit from Russia for the Imperial Family. He offered refuge should they be released, as well. Victoria Milford Haven made a point of thanking him for his efforts after the War.

Given he was related to most of the Royal and Imperial houses it must have made staying neutral a difficult task!

Vanitatis published an article about King Alfonso XIII.
The Spanish monarch knew about the modern development of European universities, but his dentist told him about the great green areas of the United States.

King Alfonso XIII and Queen Victoria Eugenia and General Primo de Rivera, review Spain's victorious Troops of the Riff Campaign. Centa, Morocco (1927).

Alfonso XIII was also one of the longest reigning Spanish monarchs from 1886 until the proclamation of the Republic in 1931 but I think Felipe V reigned longer?

I'm not sure, the difference of the lenght of their reigns is very tiny.
Alfonso XIII reigned for nearly 45 years.
Felipe V reignes for 23 years from november 1700 to January 1724 and then for nearly 22 years from september 1724 until his death in July 1746.
