Question How do I close a thread I started and delete my posts

Issue#1
I have searched both the FAQ section and this thread but can't work out how to close a thread I started.

Issue #2
I read on this thread that I can't write posts with religious content. Oops, I need to delete a couple.

Sorry for my mistake.

Hi Lighthouse

Only the moderators can close threads. Why do you think the thread topic you started should be closed?
Discussion of religion and politics is not barred. We ask that such discussion is kept relevant to the royal person and the thread topic.

Thanks for answering my questions. I thought my thread asking if the Luxembourg royals are environmentally friendly should be closed because it seems to have received all the answers it's going to get. It doesn't concern me now that you've clarified the issue.

I do not understand the searchmachine of this forum. I have typed Ludwigsburg Palace in all kinds of manners and get the most rediculous results.

The search function is part of the vBulletin message board platform and leaves a lot to be desired. There is a major upgrade of vBulletin due to be released next year (from version 3 to version 4); we can only hope that the vB software writers have spent some time addressing the inadequacy of the current search function.

Totally agree, Susan Alicia; if I need, I use the advanced search, that is the only one giving me some right results...

hi.
i understand in what you are saying, all well said and done but i have noticed that after an period of time one can not edit or delete ones post.
whats happens when a member (a few days later) thinks to oneself.....i was a bit harsh in that post...i better alter or delete it, when that period of time as lapsed.
i suppose the only option is to make a apology and hope for the best !!
best regards jonny.

Jonny, there's another option which is to contact one of the forum moderators and ask them to edit the post on your behalf. This is not uncommon.
Members have 48 hours in which to edit their own posts after which time the post 'locks'. Once a post is locked only the Forums staff can edit it.
