Royalty of Madagascar

Does anyone know who the pretender to the Crown of Madagascar, or the head of the royal house of Merina is?

Hello tokenguy, and welcome to TRF!

I've moved your thread to the Nonreigning Houses forum, where you'll probably get more help than in Member Introductions.

See here, and this quote:

RULES OF SUCCESSION:
Until the death of Radama I, succession was by nomination by the reigning King, who usually appointed one of his sons by a Royal wife as his Heir Apparent. After that date, succession was basically by coup d'état. The Prime Minister and C-in-C of the day choosing a member of the family most amenable to him.

Queen Ranavalona I asserted that King Andrian-Ampoin-i-Merina had established the rules of succession based on female descent from his maternal grandmother, Rasoherina. However, this was supposedly applicable only after the death of his son, King Radama I. The crown to be elective amongst such descendants in the female line. Although this "rule" was also used to choose her successors, it was merely a convenient device employed by the Prime Ministers to retain power in their hands. This makes it almost impossible to identify the current head of the family and potential claimant to the throne.

THE ROYAL HOUSE OF MADAGASCAR:

The history of the Royal House of Madagascar began since more than one thousand and five hundred years before the Christian era until the present times. The Royal House of Madagascar have Jewish origins. They have close links to the First Temple of Jerusalem.

The Eldest branch (Lahimatoa) of the Royal Family (Fianakaviana Andriamanjaka) is the depositary of royal traditions and customs. The Eldest branch is the legitimous royal family in this Great Island. They safeguard and they conserve secretly the sacrality (Hasina) of the Royal House in Madagascar.

In one hand, only the king who is a direct descendant of the Eldest son (Zoky) of the royal Family is legitimous. Later, the descendant of the youngest son (Zandry) of the royal family could reign if he was married with a princesse of the Eldest branch. The last king who obeyed to this commandment was the King Andria-nampo-in-imerina (the king at the heart of Imerina) in 1778-1810). He had more than twelve wifes and more than one hundred concubines.

The last two kings and the last three queens had not respected the royal convention because they did not marry with a prince or a princesse from the eldest branch of the royal family. Thus, they were not exactly legitimous.

In other hands, there was a kingdom in Madagascar during many centuries. Later, Madagascar was an Empire in the 19th Century. There was more than twenty kingdoms in this Great Island, and there was a great king or an Emperor who lived the Royal Palace of Antananarivo .

In the present times, we can find more than twenty kings (Ampanjaka) and queens in many kingdoms (Fanjakana) in Madagascar. The french colonization (1896-1960) could not abolish the royalty in Madagascar. Moreover, after the echecs of colonialism, neo-colonialism, socialism, and liberalism, during more than forty years (1960-2000), we can see at the increasing of royal customs and traditions in the whole country.

In the present times, There is a gathering of all kings and queens in Madagascar under the conducting of the Eldest branch of the royal family. By the will of God, Madagascar will be a Modern Monarchy or the Federation of Monarchies in few times...

Have the recent political turn of events in Madagascar been benefical or harmful towards the pro-monarchy(monarchies) movements?

The vision of a Modern Monarchy in Madagascar

The recent political turns of events have been beneficial to all kings and princes with pro-monarchic movements in Madagascar. The echecs of the republican system, the echecs of democratism, and the corruption of almost all politicians, during more than forty years, accelerate the process of the installation of a Modern Monarchy in Madagascar in 2010!

I am so glad to hear that there is still royal members of the royal Madagascar house still around. Thank you your royal highness for the information you have provided for us here. I know your highness you have mention that there is and possibility that the monarchy will be restored in Madagascar. Is the royal family and the government of Madagascar working together to make this possible? Do the people of Madagascar support the restoration of the monarchy? If the monarchy is restored is there and heir to the throne? As and monarchist I would like to give my loyal support to the crown of Madagascar. If I have permission your highness I would like to interview you on my radio show. It is and radio show that supports the principles of monarchy. If you are interested you can send me a message or e-mail me as well. You can also listen to my show at www.blogtalkradio.com/monarchistconsortium

Discourse at the Inaugural Conference of the Summit of Kings and Princes in South-Africa, November 2009:

"I have a vision of a world where kings reign in each country in the world, in the respect of God, in order that all people live in peace, in harmony and in hapiness"...

" The monarchic system is the true political system which is in conformity to the Will of God, the Creator of the Universe. Because the Lord God, the Creator of the universe, is the King of kings and the Lord of lords"...

" A true sustainable economic and social development is possible, and it is possible only with the respect of God, the respect of cultural identities, the respect of the dignity of each people, the respect of the kingdoms, and the respect of kings and princes"...

Modern Monarchy in Madagascar

The different elections (referendum for the new constitution, legislative elections, communal elections, election of the chief of state if is it the case...) will be done between May and November 2010.

Almost all republican politicians are very corrupted.

Our oubjective is to win the majority of voices of the population !!!

The Congress of Kings and Princes of Madagascar, led by HRH the Prince Ndriana RABARIOELINA, introduced a new constitution entitled "Fanjakan 'i Madagasikara" (the KINGDOM OF MADAGASCAR) to the Constitutional Consultative Committee, which met in the National Assembly of Madagascar, in June 03, 2010.

The new constitution, which includes one hundred and twenty five articles, respect the history, the identity, and the cultural values of the nation in Madagascar. HRH the Prince Ndriana RABARIOELINA noticed that the republican system broke down since March 17, 2009, and the page is turned. Now, the country will enter in a new era: the Fanjakan 'i Madagasikara, between June 2010 and December 2010.

I know Madagascar very well and I am puzzled by your assertions. I don't intend to be rude but there are hundreds if not thousands of noble families in this island, but there has never been a single succession law either written or by tradition to allow anyone to claim anything. It's over the top. As well as there is no scientific/historical evidence to prove that the malagasy sovereigns back then had had any connection to the Temple of Jerusalem. Please.

Maurice Benyovszky, King of Madagascar

Perhaps we should also mention Count Móric Benyovszky de Benyó et Urbanó, a Hungarian nobleman, who became the King of Madagascar in the 18th century.

I think his male line became extinct, but a collateral comital branch, which is descending maybe from one of the brothers or cousins of King Maurice is still extant. This line is interestingly descending from the King by female line. They are sometimes styled as princes of Madagascar.

Smile

I personally think he betrayed Madagascar, Actually he dealt in order to colonize Madagascar and he made a slave trade with the population.
In my opinion, Madagascar does not need to become a monarch, he needs to have a real democratically elected president.
