allAfrica.com: Kenya: Botswana Royal, Lesedi Weds Konzolo's Son Martyn

Kenya can now lay claim to being a favourite of royals. First Prince William chose Kenya to propose to his wife Kate Middleton. Now a member of the Botswana Royal family chose a Kenyan man to be her husband and Kenya as her wedding location. Lesedi J. Botlhoko recently said 'I do' to stockbroker Martyn Konzolo at an intimate service at St John the Evangelist Church, Karen.
Lesedi, the second born child of Mr and Mrs Magqazana are members of the Botswana Royal Family hence the reason for the invite only ceremony that saw her family fly in a few days earlier.

Ghana: Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional State

The Real Facts About The New Juaben Stool | General News 2011-08-04

The Yiadom-Hwedie Royal Family, from which a Paramount Chief is chosen for either New Juaben or Asante Juaben, is a closely-knit royal family. Daasebre Prof. Emeritus Oti Boateng is the Uncle of Odehye Topen Siriboe, with Daasebre’s grandmother, Nana Akosua Kyem, and Odehye Topen’s great grandmother, Nana Ama Bonsu, being the daughters of one ancestress, Nana Akua Boatemaa.

When the New Juaben Stool became vacant in 1990 following the death of Daasebre Kwaku Boateng II, Odehye Topen was nominated by the late Queenmother, Nana Juaben Serwaa, for the Stool but was disqualified on the grounds of his misbehaviour and conduct unbecoming of an aspirant of a Paramount Stool by a Committee of Enquiry set up by the Government of the Provisional National Defence Council [PNDC] under the chairmanship of the late Nana Ahunako Acquah, Omanhene of Gomoah Assin Traditional Area, to investigate the New Juaben Chieftaincy Affairs.

A Government White Paper on the Report of the Committee of Enquiry indicated, among others, that Odehye Topen was guilty of “severally violating custom during his period of confinement” and that “these tabooed misdemeanours automatically disqualified him from being installed a chief”. The Committee recommended that the Queenmother should submit a fresh nomination to the Kingmakers for consideration.

The Queenmother then approached Dr. Emmanuel Oti Boateng, a royal of the Yiadom-Hwedie Stool and the then Chief Government Statistician of Ghana on three occasions accompanied by the Gyaasehene, the late Asumenamuhene, and the Adahemaa, among others, to accept her decision to nominate him for election and installation as a Paramount Chief of New Juaben State. It is on record that Dr. Oti Boateng initially declined the offer and that it took the interventions of several people including the present Queen of Ashanti, Nana Afua Kobi Ampem, to finally persuade him to accept the offer of nomination.

Following his nomination and unanimous acceptance by the Kingmakers, Dr. Oti Boateng was enstooled as the Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional State on 26th October 1992 with the Stool name of Daasebre Oti Boateng. For nearly nineteen years he has led his people to great prosperity rarely experienced in the New Juaben Traditional Area.

Lagos: Urhobo royal family

STORM: Padres prospect Olabisi toiling in classroom as much as on the field
Lake Elsinore Storm player Wande Olabisi has an undergraduate degree in biomechanical engineering from Stanford.
Olabisi was born in Lagos, Nigeria to a royal family of the Urhobo tribe. He was born shortly after his grandfather died, and his father, Goke, symbolically named him Babawande, which means "my father has come back through you."
After living in Nigeria for five years, Olabisi's father, an oil industry worker, moved his family to Saudi Arabia. Growing up amid the heavy American presence in the oil industry, Olabisi picked up baseball after being inspired by reading about Jackie Robinson in grade school.

I never married Lovelyn legally - Prince Odianosen Okojie
‘Love and scandal are the best sweeteners of tea’,these words of English novelist, Henry Fielding has evidently turned otherwise for sexy but now distressed actress, Mercy Johnson and her husband to be, Prince Odianosen Okojie.
It’s no longer news that weeks to their planned wedding, the Canada based estranged wife of Odianosen, Lovelyn Adaeze Okojie, surfaced with an overwhelming pictorial evidences of her marriage Mercy’s fiance:
The marriage reported to have been contracted and followed by a traditional wedding in Nigeria in 2009 produced two children. The said marriage which is now a subject of litigation has also cast doubts on the much publicized August 27th, 2011, wedding.

the Namibian: Ombalantu kingship dispute to continue
A KING for the Aambalantu was inaugurated in northern Namibia on July 30, a few hours before an interdict forbidding the crowning of a new king for this community was issued in the High Court in Windhoek, the man who claims to be king said in an affidavit filed with the High Court.
Michael Shapumba Nauta made this claim in an affidavit filed to oppose the case in which the Ombalantu Traditional Authority and its head, Chief Oswin Shifiona Mukulu, obtained an interim interdict against the coronation of Nauta as Ohamba or king of the Ombalantu community.

We are not against Khumalo family - Newsday: Everyday News for Everyday People
Organisers of the Mzilikazi Cultural Festival set for Wednesday and Thursday next week at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Grounds have dismissed claims there was bad blood between them and the Khumalo royal family.
[...]
Early this month, the Khumalo family organised similar commemorations at Mhlahlandlela, south-west of Bulawayo, to celebrate the life and death of the Ndebele founding king, Mzilikazi Khumalo.
There have been numerous reports of sharp differences between Umthwakazi KaMzilikazi, organisers of the Mhlahlandlela celebrations, and the Institute of Ubuntu.
Said Matshazi: “As an organisation and as Ndebele-speaking people, and as Africans, we don’t need to ask for permission from anyone to celebrate Mzilikazi.

New Era - The Mbunza chieftainship debacle
The Vambunza is one of the five distinct recognized traditional communities in the Kavango. It has been reported in the news media that its Chief or Hompa of 10 years Alfons Kaundu is being challenged by a royal faction whose main campaign is to unseat him

The main reason for this campaign is that Alfons Kaundu is not a descendant of the Vambunza royal blood.

And that he became a Chief of the Vambunza 10 years ago through questionable means because he campaigned for himself in a political style rather than being appointed by the royal family as it is customary in the Vambunza culture.

The decision was taken after a meeting with the chiefs and regents of the royal family over the weekend in Yendi.
