HAPPY 75TH BIRTHDAY! On the 18th of December, HM the King of Sweden hosted an birthday event honoring Mentor’s founder, his wife, Queen Silvia. It was a fantastic happening with presentations from all of HMQ’s foundations: Care About The Children, the Jubeliumsfond, the Fund for Research and Education, Siviahemmet, Childhood and, of course, Mentor! It beautifully showcased the Queen and her philanthropic, warm, generous and caring spirit. There were impressive musical performances from up-and-coming kids to fullfledged professionals. We wish everyone could have been there to see it! But at least it was recorded! Photographed: HMQ with Mentor in Stockholm.

Today a reception was held for authorities and organisations at the Royal Palace. Queen Silvia received a lamp from the government and the Riksdag.

On Wednesday, 19 December, a reception was given to the Queen at princess Sibylla's apartments at the Royal Palace on the occasion of the 75th anniversary.
The congratulators were representatives from, among other things, Riksdag and government, the governors of Sweden, the city of Stockholm, the municipality of Ekerö, authorities, foundations and various organizations.

On December 19, Queen Silvia was congratulated about the 75th anniversary by the Speaker of the Riksdag Andreas Norlén and Prime Minister Stefan Löfven. As gift from Sweden's Riksdag nd government, the queen received a table lamp in brass.
The table lamp is part of the Suburban Skyline series and complements the lamp from the same series that the Queen received from the Riksdag and Government at her previous birthday. The designers are design duo Folkform, which was formed in 2005 and consists of Anna Holmquist and Chandra Ahlsell.

Silvia's fight against child abuse is her life work
Was it worth sacrificing life as an individual for constant limelight?
Queen Silvia turns 75 years and can look back on a life that does not resemble somebody else's.
Her fight against abuse on children is her great achievement.
It is far from obvious that a Swedish queen should be as active in society and take a stand on current, burning issues that Queen Silvia has done.
She may not have had a role model, but has been pioneer, and moved the boundaries of what a Swedish royal can do. She has paved the way for her daughter Victoria, who will be a more radical and more community-oriented monarch than her father.
The first Bernadotte Karl XIV Johans wife Desideria never learned Swedish, and moved reluctantly to Sweden, when the husband had already been king for 13 years. The following queens Josefina, Lovisa, Sofia, Victoria and Louise engaged in healthcare and charity, and the latter abolished a lot of stiff royal ceremonies.
But no one took such a brave step as Queen Silvia when she made the fight against sexual assault on children for her personal issue.

SVT published last night the long version (1h 56min) about the seminar held in Oscarsteatern on 18th December.
We can see, that Patrick Sommerlath sits behind Madeleine and Helene Silfverschiöld sits behind Estelle.
At 4.05 the king comes to give the welcoming speech. Then there is a video greeting from António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
At 1.45.00 the royal family comes to the stage. Victoria, Carl Philip and Madeleine speak to their mother, and then queen Silvia speaks. In the end king Carl Gustaf asks everyone to stand up and sing the birthday song to the queen. Estelle is shown a lot at the broadcast. There were many great, moving music performances and great speechs in tribute to queen Silvia.

It has been celebration for several days before Queen Silvia's 75th birthday on Sunday.
But the real party will be on the birthday itself - when the king and the queen host a private event at home in Drottningholm Palace.
- On the actual birthday, the Queen has chosen to keep it relatively small and celebrate it together with loved ones. Unfortunately, I can't go into details how the plans look for a private celebration. It is celebrated with family and close friends, says Margareta Thorgren.
Will the party be in the evening or all day?
- It is traditional celebration, it usually starts in the morning and so it is certainly this year too, but again, it is private.
In addition to the king and the queen's own children with spouses, the four Haga princesses are also invited to the party.
But Princess Birgitta chooses not to attend.
Since the birthday is one day before Christmas Eve, she has instead chosen to go to her children in Munich to celebrate with them and not come to Stockholm.
- No, I don't, I celebrate Christmas with my children in Munich and grandchildren. One can't be everywhere and they are such a large family so I think that is enough. It's boring but that's it. My children and grandchildren are more important and you can't go back and forth so it can't. They are not invited so then you have to choose where you want to be, she says.
Princess Christina and Tord Magnuson, on the other hand, will be present at Drottningholm Palace to celebrate the 75-year-old.
- Yes, we will be there. We have been in all birthdays so far I think. So it will be the same as last year and and the year before and so on, says Tord Magnuson.
Is there any celebration beyond the ordinary this year when it is a 75th birthday?
- We'll see when we get there, we don't know, we are only guests, says Magnuson.
When the Queen was celebrated at Oscarsteatern earlier this week, only Princess Christina attended. According to the court, Princesses Birgitta, Désirée and Margaretha would instead celebrate the queen on her birthday.
But it does not seem to be the case, as much indicates that Princess Christina is the only one who comes to Drottningholm on Sunday.
Tord Magnuson doesn't believe that any of the other Haga princesses will participate in the birthday celebration, as also Princess Margaretha, who lives in the UK and Princess Desirée who lives in Västergötland, choose to do as Princess Birgitta and prioritize their own families.
- I think that all sisters celebrate with their families, so they do not come to Stockholm any of them, says Tord Magnuson.

It was nice to see the family celebrating Silvia's birthday - Estelle and Oscar are adorable as usual and it was great to see Madeleine there. I agree that Estelle looks a lot like her grandmother in the photo landongas shared, which is something I've never noticed before as I've always thought she looks most like Victoria.

A short clip from TV4's annual program "Kungahuset". Jesper Börjesson has interviewed queen Silvia in Solliden in the summer and asks how does it feel for the queen to become older? Queen Silvia says that she hasn't had so much time to think about that: You should look back these 75 years instead. Obviously, it is so personal how you see it yourself. Should we say, I see more with harmony in these issues, aging, how should it go for me and the family.

The Queen's birthday is a general Flag day. The birthday is also an official salute day. The Armed Forces therefore shoots salute with 21 shots from Skeppsholmen's salute station in Stockholm and from the salute stations in Boden, Härnösand, Karlskrona and Gothenburg.

They've done a good job de-aging the Queen in the photo. If I didn't know better, I would think it is an older picture.
 
Svensk Damtidning has contacted Margareta Thorgren about how the queen celebrates her birthday and Thorgren has said that she will celebrate totally private with her family at Drottningholm Palace.
Svensk Damtidning also tells about the girl dinner they previously wrote at a paywall article, that Victoria, Madeleine and Sofia had arranged a girl dinner at Vinkällaren Grappe. There were 25 queen Silvia's closest friends, two had flewn from Germany and two from Brazil.

Expressen writes that Victoria, Daniel, Carl Philip, Sofia, Madeleine and Chris arrived with their families at about two o'clock to Drottningholm Palace.
First arrived Victoria and Daniel, Daniel was driving the car. Then came Chris driving the car, Madeleine was at the car with a lot of gifts. Carl Philip and Sofia arrived about fifteen minutes after the others.
- The Queen has been well celebrated today, or really the whole week by official Sweden. There have been many people who have been in the Hall of State and written congratulations to the Queen. The Queen is happy, says Margareta Thorgren.
Tord Magnuson said to Expressen that he and princess Christina are going to a dinner to Drottningholm and they will meet the whole royal family there.
We can see from the photos also Sofia's parents Erik and Marie Hellqvist arriving.

The royal court hosted a Thank you dinner last Thursday for the artists and people who performed and organized the Tribute to queen Silvia in Oscarsteatern on 18th December.
The director of the press department, Margareta Thorgren, the Mistress of the Robes Kirstine von Blixen-Finecke and the First Lady of the Court Anna Hamilton were there from the court.
Queen Silvia and king Carl Gustaf also visited the dinner and the performers got a gift from queen Silvia.

The highlight was still getting a short chat with Queen Silvia who thanked me for my song and our appearance at her tribute concert and heard the King's words that one should be grateful if at least you could help a fellow human being even though one sees the great suffering in the world . Back home now after twelve o'clock with both shoes on. Good night!
