"Victoria was right. He does need a haircut".

I hope she just was just getting her hair out of the way. You just know that Silvia can't wait to eat that cake. It does look good.

Thanks for all the pics ppl :flower:
I find it strange that with -10 the ladies used those skirts and both princesses wearing such open shoes. Probably a short ceremony outside.
Still the pics should have been taken before they go outside. Madeleine and Carl Philip have the hair a bit messy and the prince's nose looks red...

20 minutes I think...

He and Madde both had the flu. That's why they arrived at the ice hotel a day late.

is it just me, or is there not one picture with the king smiling?
is he not happy that his wife turned 60? he looks like an old grump

;) Queen Silvia was beautiful when she was 30, she is still beautiful and enchanting now when she is 60 and I'm sure she'll be that way when she turns 70 and later! My best wishe to Queen Silvia of Sweden!

I don't know. Sick or not, the body language isn't good in these photos.

They don't look comfortable together as a family.

The King and Queen just don't look happy (think she is trying to appear happy, while he isn't even making an effort).

He looks like a man who simply can't be bothered..

Yeah, the body language doesn't look good. I wonder what happened. It could be because his children all showed signs of being sick recently. He could be sick too. But let's not speculate.

Silvias flotte fødselsdag: 27.12.03

I denne uge fyldte dronning Silvia 60.

Love that photo:

Couldn't get the title. Using a raft on her birthday!

No wonder I had trouble, it's Danish!. I thought it looked funny. I thought they were just a bad speller!. It's so close.

In this copious age, Silivia is 60.

Very likely age has marked her and a bigger reward is more maturity , but few are as preserved?(or ageless) and charming as she is. She was born around Christmas time in 1943 in Heidleberg in Germany and her name was Silvia Renate Sommerlath.

Even as a young girl, she was a beautiful child with large brown eyes, nifty curling hands?, and a charming smile. Today she is 60 years old and the Queen of Sweden and both her smile and the ardent colors are the same.

She is a great representative for Sweden. The queen is elegant, capable(wicked is the same word!) and very kind. However, in private she is just as warm and affable. She is something and straight and her wind? has been given to many friends. She isn't a snob. However all of her encounters are of the mind? It is somewhat detected in the democracy that is Sweden that all is known by Queen and neighbor alike. Strange sentence.

I was just going to say that I don't envy those people for once. That does look cold.

I love how all of the family are wearing the same two jackets. It's a good thing. Easier to pick them out in a crowd if you can't see their faces.

Funny picture, Dennis. My resume/conclusion of this year´s photo session is: Either bored faces or ( unintentional) grimaces... I like the pictures, but even in the xmas-pictures of 1997 the familiy looked happier and more relaxed...and they had really no reason then.

What did you mean when you wrote that they didn't have a lot to be happy about in 1997??...Victoria's illness or what? so anyway...where can I find these wonderful pictures from iml??..I've looked everywhere..HEEEELP please... ;) thanks... ;)

Yes, I´ve meant Victoria´s disease...She was on the "top" of her anorexia at xmas 1997...and then photos were taken...anyway 1997 wasn´t a good year for the Royal family...the mother of the Queen has died...and the uncle of the king, who was like a father for him, too
But 2003 was actually a good year...no scandals...all Royal children in stable relationships with nice people...and hey, this was Silvia´s 60th birthday...a special jubilee...they should have really tried not to look like grumblers!

The gift to The Queen from the Government & Parliament!

Maybe a bit late since The Queen's birthday was in December, but I've dugg out a few facts about the silver case she was given! Read & learn :p ...

The silver case, pic 1
The silver case, pic 2
The silver case, pic 3

The silver case was the 60th birthday gift from the Government & Parliament made by silversmith Ingemar Gröroos. It was handed over by the Prime Minister and Speaker of the Parliament during the audience session were the official Sweden could hand over gifts. The silver case will be used at the dining table. The silver case contains three spoons: one for salt, one for pepper, and one for nutmeg.

The silversmith sent an extra gift with the silver case – a pair of earrings in the form of two linked together S’s.

Facts about the silver case:
Cover: The cover bears The Queen's monogram
Measurements: 80x50 millimetres and 20 millimetres high
Material: Silver
Contains: Three compartments and spoons
The spoons length: 50 millimetres
Other facts: The spoons are covered with a thin layer of 24 carat gold to make it more age resistant. The case stands on a tree plate/board made of Brazilian jacaranda.
