Today the Queen purchased the first Majblomma (mayflower) pin of the year from pupils from a Stockholm school at the Royal Palace. The money from this, which will be sold around the country for a few weeks now (as it is every spring) will go to children in need. Last year was a record year in the sales of this pin.

During a ceremony at the Royal Palace of Stockholm yesterday, the Queen awarded a diploma to students of the Kvinneby School in Linköping for winning The National Association of The Mayflower’s fundraising competition 2005 (selling the most mayflower pins).

In connection to this ceremony, four chosen researchers were presented with aid from the organisation (along with the already 26 other research projects that receive economic support for their research about improving childrens health and life quality).

It was interesting to learn about the May Day flowers.
It is nice that the flowers are a different color each year.

The Queen thanked both Albin and Malin for being good role models and commitment to those who are struggling.
Albin Junehammar describes the meeting with Queen Silvia very nice.
- It felt exciting and you felt that it is an honor to have been selected to receive to go there, he says.
After meeting with the Queen, they got to walk around the Palace to sell Mayflowers to those who work there.
- The queen picked out what she wanted to buy and her lady in waiting paid, Albin notes.
Malin Ohlsson thought at first that it was not true when she found out that she would have to go up to the Royal Court.
- It's a very big deal to get to do this. It felt great to meet her, she says.
