Scholarschips and prizes were delivered: Research and Educational Scholarship, Prize to the 2013 best dementia team in home care. A prize from Swedish Dementia Centre and Dementia Association. The newly established prize 'Queen Silvia Nursing Award "as well as Alzheimer's Fund's newly instituted awards to "Young Alzheimer's researcher" was awarded for the first time.

The queen visited Karolinska Institutet in Huddige today. Foundation Silviahemmet (Silvia Home) had it's board meeting. After the meeting the Queen met representatives from the department that conducts cutting-edge research with a focus on aging and dementia.
The Queen received a presentation of the new online master's program in dementia care doctor which KI makes in collaboration with Silviahemmet Foundation. After graduating they get the title Silvia Doctors. The queen got also information about ongoing production of the web-based master's program for occupational therapists and physiotherapists specializing in dementia care, which is also done in collaboration with Silviahemmet Foundation.

Queen Silvia talked for the first time about her skiing accident to Johan T Lindwall when she arrived to the Inspiration Day.
- It must have been a patch of ice and it was considerably steep. I could not do anything.
- I fell on the arm and shoulder and broke it on three points. Three cracks.
- It was operated in Davos. I have seven screws and a steel plate implanted. It's very nicely done. You can not see any of it.
How the Queen is today?
- Now I feel good, but now the hard part starts.

Silviahemmet's Inspiration Day is one of the key commitments during the year to Queen Silvia and she pointed out how "incredibly important work" everybody that work with the care of dementia patients do:
- Everyone here is doing a fantastic job. It is so important to pay attention to this and highlight all relatives and those who are sick.

Queen Silvia attended today at the meeting of the Board of the Silvia Home Foundation.
In connection to that she also attended at a certification ceremony at the Danderyd Hospital. Danderyd is the first acute hospital in Sweden that has specially trained a whole department in how to take care of patients with dementia and delirium. On Monday, the hospital was certified by Queen Silvia.

Queen Silvia delivered on Monday evening diplomas to first Silvia Doctors at the Drottningholm Palace Theatre. Since 1996, the Foundation Silviahemmet (Silvia Home) has retrained nurses in dementia care, so far 550 Silvia Sisters and 170 Silvia Nurses. Now the first Silvia doctors graduated after having completed a Master's degree in dementia care. The two-year program has been done in collaboration between Silviahemmet and Karolinska Institutet. The Silvia Doctors have completed their studies alongside their clinical work.

Malteser has cooperated with Silviahemmet since 2009.

Queen Silvia delivered on 7th December the certificates No. 30-33 to SVPH – Sällskapet Vänner till Pauvres Honteux i Nockeby. The queen delivered the certificates together with Principal Wilhelmina Hoffman to SVPH and their units Nockebyhem, Nockebyhöjden, Nockebyhus and Fredhällshemmen.

The next step to Silviahemmet is to build housing adapted for couples where one person becomes ill.
- It might give a family or a couple the opportunity to stay together. One can go to Silviahemmet for the day or to another facility while the other is working and then they can meet at home, says the Queen.
Six apartments will be completed in 2017 in connection Silviahemmet daytime activities on Ekerö outside Stockholm. The apartments are a pilot, but the queen's hope is that in the future similar homes will be built in more places.
- Maybe there could be a small village, she says.

Silvia's secret meeting with Ingvar Kamprad
Queen Silvia has had a completely unknown meeting with 90-year-old Ikea founder Ingvar Kamprad.
The billionaire traveled in secrecy for a couple of months ago to Stockholm and met Queen Silvia at Silviahemmet - where he got an offer, he immediately agreed to.
Queen Silvia founded Silviahemmet at Drottningholm 20 years ago and that's where she and Ikea billionaire Ingvar Kamprad now have grand plans for the future:
- Ingvar is an amazing person and I looked at him when he heard our proposal and saw that this was something he wanted to do. It really flashed in his eyes, says Silvia when Expressen meets her out on Silviahemmet, a few steps from Drottningholm Palace.
It was at Silviahemmet where the Queen's mother Alice Sommerlath received care in the final stages of life when she was demented. On the days she was at Silviahemmet and in the evenings at home at the Drottningholm Palace with the family.
Now queen Silvia plans to do exactly the same thing for other people with dementia and their relatives:
- I have often thought about this with a person who becomes demented and is put to an accommodation and then split from the family. Could one not be able to provide both care and also maintain the family. Be on the day at the health care place and then in the evening to come home and be with your family?
In connection to Silviahemmet the queen plans now implement SilviaBo - a completely new concept.
- The idea is that we will build the apartments where the sick people are able to stay with his family and then on the day when the rest of the family has work and school, the person will be at Silviahemmet at day care, the queen tells.
This is where Ingvar Kamprad comes into the picture. In great secrecy, he was "in the winter" at Silviahemmet and met the Queen:
- Yes, we sat here and drank tea. We had very nice time. I invited him up! And he came here. A fantastically interesting person. An entrepreneur to his fingertips. We showed Ingvar around and told about Silviahemmet and he liked very much about our proposal. So now he supports us in this with the construction, the queen tells.
The first apartments should be ready in a year and they are now being made in cooperation with Skanska and Ikea in concept BoKlok which becomes SilviaBo. Inside Silviahemmet it has built up a showroom on how it may look like the home of a person who has dementia.
Silvia demonstrates pedagogical around inside the show apartment and explains all the details. She explains that it must be colored plates when there is fish for supper - otherwise the person doesn't see the food on the plate.
Ingvar Kamprad and IKEA has donated stuff to Silviahemmet. They will be used for accommodation concept with both the home and furniture. Ikea is half owner of BoKlok who will implement the project together with Skanska.
