Great photos, Purple Platinum!

Very lucky guy. I see that the (in)famous ponytail was around for lunch. Maxima really sparkled. We can always count on her for some color. Also I guess Mette Marit was going out to practice archery after the lunch. I guess MM no longer stands for Mette-Marit but for Maid Marian!

thanks for lots pictures of King's birthdays

its really amazings of Royals house include Denmark,Netherlands,Greece, and lots of more to attend of King's birthdays.

but im really like Maxima's red evening dress its really hot mama dress and also ruby tiara

and also CP Mary's daytime looks great with hats of red flowers.

i would agree with posts but Queen Slivia's 80's dress looks so ugly but i dont blame her because she is Queen of Sweden but she need change new outfits like evening and daytime dresses like that.

im really like Sweden Sisters's evening dress and daytime dress looks nice and some recycling clothing from past years.

BTW is it just me or did Mary seemed kinda...flusted on the night of the dinner wearing the 'mermaid' dress?

Thanks to all for posting the lovely pictures of the birthday celebrations.
The royal family looks happy and beautiful.

But it is pitty for us to see no pictures of the swedish royal couple from the private Gala at Drottningholm-castle!!!

Thank you all for posting all those wonderful pictures.

I have to say that

Vikotria and Maxima looked the best very radiant

Mary: naaaa that is not a color that looks good on her, but that dress in red would have probably been the bomb

Mette Marit: she looks sooooo conservative she could do way better, but maybe she still fells kind of big after giving brith and wants to cover up.
I loved her style when she was still pregnant while they were in London that was just great.

Madeleine: sorry but to me she looks like a rosted chicken, that is tooo much tanning it jus looks fake. I did like the blue outfit that she wore I think for the lunch but evening she could have done better too.

All the queens could have done better but Queen Sonja looked loveley

someone that keeps impressing me is GD Maria Teresa, she has an impeccable sense of style and has awesome dresses!:)

Please ledies, don´t be so hard on some of the Royals! They are hard working mothers too. And trend in taste is very much according to one's fancy. In some countries also a question of etiquette that´s not simular all over the world. Some of You ladies comment this Royal event as if You are an evil stepmother from a fairy tale. This was´nt a tale! It was head of states, Royals and Presidents, congratulating Swedish head of state.

Like you said, Karisma, this wasn't a tale but a state occasion and I think some of the women should have respected it as such! They're so worried about looking good for the public that they end up looking like Hollywood bimbos. That's not etiquette anywhere in the world! I'm not saying they were complete disasters either - usually just minor flaws that spoil the whole; a lady should know what works for her and compliments her. She should also be advised against what doesn't (which obviously isn't happening in some circles).

The Best dressed: easily Maxima that red dress really stood out. :)

The Worst dressed: hard to say because there were some real shockers but I'll have to go with Marie-Chatal that dress looks just plain ugly to me.

And I hope Madeleine stops tanning because she looks red.

Thank to everyone who has posted photos over the last few days. It has been wonderful to see all the gowns, jewels and beautiful women. I must also mention the men - there are some very handsome Crown Princes!

Although they look similar and are both fringe tiara's, they do infact have noticable differences.

Marie Chantal's tiara is spaced out with prongs in between the spikes were as Victorias is nothing but spikes.

"MII"

It seems to have been a popular design: Princess Anne wore a very similar one to her wedding and Pincess Georgina of Liechtenstein wore one, too, though her prongs are more prominent between the spikes.

I am so impressed with the gowns and jewels the royal ladies chose to wear.
Princess Maxima: Bravo! She always manages to look stunning and the Mellerio parure is fantastic on her.

Crown Princess Mary: I agree that the color of her dress seems to wash her out- especially standing next to the vibrant dress of Princess Maxima- but I am sure that in person Mary's dress must have looked stunning. Great jewels too.

Duchess of Brabant: The dress is gorgeous but the fit is not altogether there. The hairstyle is perfect though. Mathilde is always well put together.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit: The dress is a good color for her but the style looks a bit matronly for her and ages her. Perhaps a different hairstyle too so the earrings and tiara would stand out a bit more. And please sit up straight!

Crown Princess Victoria: She looks beautiful as always and the Baden fringe tiara in my opinion suits her the best. The color and cut of the dress works well for her and she looks fabulous!

Princess Madeleine: Yes, the dress is an old one and we're a bit tired of seeing it but the cut and color are just perfect for her. The jewels look great and Madeleine is one of the only princesses who can pull off wearing a tiara with her hair down (which I think she should have done). She looks exactly what she is- a young, beautiful swedish princess.

All the ladies looked stunning and I think did a fantastic job.

Thank you all for your nice comments and the great pictures! It was a joy to follow the event via TRF...:)

She has worn the tiara the first time ca. 1996/97 and it is believed to be a gift from her parents either to her or to her daughter Princess Maria Olympia. But is definitiv not from Queen Ingrid, she had no fringe tiara. Queen Alexandrine of Denmark had a fringe tiara which was inherited by her younger son Knud, and is now in the posession of his son, Count Ingolf of Rosenborg. His wife Sussie wore it at the danish Wedding celebrations in 2004.

What a wonderful event. Thank you to everybody who worked hard posting photos and comments.

I was wondering if Prince Nikolas of Greece brought his girlfriend?

Why didn't they pair Ps Mary with someone who didn't have a partner like Prince Nikolas or is there some sort of protocol or order they have to follow when they are at a formal function? (I am talking about the dinner where Prince Henrik escorted Queen Beatrix)

Princess Mary first walked with Prince Willem-Alexander & Princess Maxima, but toward the end of the evening when they all switched partners, Princess Mary walked with Prince Nikolaus. ;)

I loved looking at the beautiful pictures.

Thumbs up to : CP Mary and Maxima for their elegance. I liked Maxima red dress and Mary green gown and mainly her hairdo. She should this kind of hairdo in the future.

I was really disappointed with M-Marit and Marie-Chantal who is usually very well dressed.

The iceblue dress CP Victoria wore was beautiful. So simple and elegant, I think she looked much better than her sister that evening.

About the Spanish royals

King Juan Carlos only attended the firtst part of the celebration of King Carl XVI Gustaf birthday. They left after massceremony in the cathedral in the Castle of Stockholmn.

It is´nt often now days th King of Spaing are going for parties but he and the Swedish monarch ar are very close friends in private with simular interests.

Article from HELLO
....................The calibre of the guest list wasn't the only thing making Saturday's party an unforgettable event, though, as Carl Gustaf was also showered with countless gifts. These ranged from the state portrait he received from Sweden's parliament to homemade cheesecake and jellies brought to his home by members of the public.

Stockholm's police department even gave the sovereign a global satellite positioning system, prompting his daughter Princess Madeline to joke that the gadget would likely take over from Queen Silvia as official royal map reader................

mmmm this article is full of mistakes though:rolleyes:

Here's a quick fashion review from Aftonbladet :
(perhaps later on GrandDuchess or our other fellow swedish friends can give a brief summary
if noone has tanslated it yet, i can do it, let me know..( i just havent bothered to read every single post here, its to many, so mayb someone have translated it already)

ok here's my "opinion" since everyone else post theirs ;)

first off, i enjoyed the celebrations as a whole, i was hooked by the tv n the pc all day....watchin whatever they showed n downloaded LOADS of videos of the king all day:)

mmm bout the cloths, on the luncheon... mary def had the best outfit..i just tooootally love it. but i also like Victoria & Madeleines outfits..but those hats..hmm bit tooo big/to far down..you hardly could see their faces!

mmm gala cloths at the evening. well i think victoria looked the best, that dress really suited her, and she had my fave tiara and a necklance which goes well with it...

madeleine...ok... im BORED by that dress *yawn* but at least she didnt wear one of the stupid buttontiaras (hate them) and for once she actually had the hair up in a hairdo which really suited her, it's soft. so she's ok... though how anyone can think that this dress is GREY is beyond me.
http://img61.imageshack.us/my.php?image=060287jpg395334g5zj.jpg

im glad to see that one of the buttons tiara found another head *wish it would stay there* http://img15.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc179&image=th_79696_4a8c86b4.jpg

when i saw silvia...i was like WTF:confused: mmm awful top of the dress....
mmm the colour was pretty wicked though...but again..how anyone can find this colour "pale green"...that's definitly beyond me...
http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=241595&d=1146473777

luv the "kröningsdiademet" (sorry i forgot the english name) mmm it really makes her look like a queen...

of the others, i like lillians dress..that lady is cool

mmm mary's dress was a disappointment imo... maxima well i like the colour but not the cut of the dress... & mette-marit... eh..*no comments*
