The king and the queen arrived to Turku a little over 21.00 last evening.
Ruotsin kuningaspari saapui Turkuun - Kotimaa - Turun Sanomat

They had wished that there would be no welcoming ceremonies, since the visit is private, tells Mika Akkanen, the Co-ordinator for International Affairs of the City of Turku. They have no official programme, they attend only at the scout events. The king and the queen spent the evening with their friends. They are staying at the Radisson Blu Marina Palace Hotel.

This article tells that the queen went on a tour to the little communities and villages at the archipelago near Turku. First she visited Gullkrona. The old story tells that the swedish queen Blanche of Namur promised in the 14th century to sacrifice her crown to the most beautiful sight she would see and after seeing the sea in Gullkrona archipelago she threw her crown in its depths.
The queen's tour continued until the afternoon, when she returned to Turku. After the reception at the Sibelius museum they will have dinnar at Hus Lindman. I think that Victoria and Daniel recommended Hus Lindman to the king and the queen, since they had lunch there at their visit to Turku last September. Hus Lindman is also close to the Sibelius museum.

According to MTV3, the king came to meet the press in a very good mood. He was laughing and even told a joke to the press. The king answered also to the questions made by scouts. He also praised the scout organization.
- I am excited about the scouts now more than ever. This is the world's largest management training organization, the king confessed.

I read from the newspapers and websites, that the king and the queen would visit the scout camp at 11.00. So I decided that I would go there a little earlier. When I came to the entrance of the camp at 10.40, the king and the queen came towards me in a hurry, they were going to see the ships of the scouts. So they had come earlier than it was told, and visited the camp already. They had photographers and TV-reporters with TV-cameras around them. At that point I had my camera still in my bag, so I didn't get any photos. And when they went to the boats, there was so much crowd around them that I couldn't get any photos at all.
But about the king and queen: they went to one boat of the scouts, stayed there about 10 minutes talking with the scouts, came out and went to a bigger boat and stayed there about 15 minutes. Then they came out and moved with all the photographers and crowd to the Sigyn-hall which is on one side of the Varvintori square, where the camp was. The seminar is at the Sigyn hall later today.

I talked with two women, their children were scouts. The other woman told about yesterday evening, when the king and the queen and some other guests were having dinner at Hus Lindman. There was a young guitar player playing (he was a scout too), when the guests came to take their dinner from the buffet table. Queen Silvia stopped and asked from the guitar player, if he knew a song of a famous brazilian composer (the woman didn't remember his name). The guitarist said that he knew it and played it to the queen.

Björn Wahlroos, the friend of the king, was there also, he speaks at the seminar today. He had mustard-yellow trousers. He almost fell when he stumbled in a scout tent rope...

The weather was nice, the sun was shining but it was quite windy. And right after the king and the queen went to the Sigyn Hall, it started raining for a while.
I'm a little sorry that I didn't get any photos, but I saw the king and the queen. I'm glad that I went there.

The king and the queen watching the statue of Karl XIV Johan (Jean Baptiste Bernadotte, then crown prince) and Alexander I meeting in Turku in 1812, statue made by Andrei Kovaltshuk. The statue was unveiled in 24th August this year. This photo was taken by a person walking by, he sent it to newspaper Turun Sanomat. According to him especially queen Silvia was very moved about the statue.

According to Turun Sanomat, king Carl Gustaf and queen Silvia left Turku at noon. Before they left, they visited an Antique Fair at the House of the Volunteer Fire Department of Turku. The king bought a flower vase, and the queen volumes of old magazines.
The visit was organized by the South-West Finland Scout District, but was supported by, among others the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the City of Turku. The co-ordinator for International Affairs Mika Akkanen praises the cooperation between the various stakeholders and authorities during the visit, it went smoothly.
- We are very pleased that dignitaries visit Turku. Turku is an important and historic connection to Sweden, so that every time the Swedish royal family visits here, it creates a hype, Akkanen says.
According to Akkanen the city wants to keep its reputation as an important partner in the Baltic Sea Region, and the events like this of World Scout Foundation with the royals attending are likely to support it.
- And of course, it's always nice to be involved in supporting a good cause. Such events provide a positive atmosphere to the townspeople.
Also, the Finnish Scouts Communications Manager Jaana Ketola praises the event as a success. On Saturday morning the camp was filled of people interested in the royal visit.
- And what was good to see that the visitors stayed until the afternoon, Ketola said.
