Today the king and queen were at Prince Eugen's Waldemarsudde.
They visited exhibition "A Fairytale School – the Swedish Folkskola Celebrates 175 Years".

The king visits today Swedish Tourist Association's accessible mountain hut in Abiskojaure. The hut in Abiskojaure is part of a 70th birthday present to the king. The gift was a patronage of the initiative "Stötta Kungsleden" and was given by Sweden's governors and the Swedish Tourist Association.
The king was staying overnight at the Swedeish Tourist Association's Mountain Lodge in Abisko, and was awakened just before six o'clock to a very loud fire alarm.
The director of the press department Margareta Thorgren says:
- The fire alarm went off but we were quickly informed that it was a false alarm.
Already at 08.00 the king would be dressed in snowmobile suit and snowmobile boots and then, together with a small delegation and a number of journalists, go to Abiskojaure.
- The day starts early and the King looks forward to the visit to the accessible hut in Abiskojaure, says Thorgren.

When I read about the fire alarm, I thought for a second it was a training the King had to do as a sort of preventive move in case of fire! lol.
 
The king said when he inaugurated the hut:
- It's great to have been able to adapt this hut for those with disabilities and others who have difficulties getting out to the mountains.
The king enjoys a lot of nature and outdoor activities.
- A day up here in these parts provides more energy than what you get at home in a week or even 14 days. It's these wide open spaces, the silence. It is also that here you might have to take care of yourself in a completely different way. You have to think about what to do, how to live and how to work.
The king says that he tries to spend as much time in the nature he can, this years it hasn't been much.
Through the years there has been many holidays with family: Queen Silvia and children Victoria, Carl Philip and Madeleine.
- You have to think a little bit, you have to cope. It's not luxury hotel so it is about to bring the right stuff. My children always feel like I have with me too many things, even the queen says it.
The king says that now they have begun to imitate their father, and now they have also brought a lot of things in the backpack.

King Carl Gustaf presented today LRF Dairy Sweden's Gold Medal to Swedish dairy farmers at The Swedish Society of Medicine in Stockholm. Queen Silvia attended at the event too.

Berit Norberg from the village of Västbjörka in Dalarna today received a medal from The King. The Federation of Swedish Farmers Dairy Gold Medal was presented to 39 dairy farmers from all over Sweden. The farmers who receive a gold medal 'for proficiency and a sense of responsibility' have been supplying top quality milk from healthy cows for at least 23 years.

The King visited the Salvation Army Women's Centre in Akalla to get to know more about their activities and to meet Madeleine Sundell, the Salvation Army's national coordinator against trafficking. In 2009 she received a scholarship from The King's Young Leadership Foundation and today The King got to hear what the scholarship has meant to her.

King Carl Gustaf had today an audience with the Sweden's National Day Foundation's Secretary General Martin Brothén and Skansen Manager John Brattmyr. It was a preparatory meeting for the traditional National Day celebrations at Skansen, where the Royal Family attends.
Secretary General Martin Brothén informed also about the Foundation's work with celebrations across the country. The foundation's mission is to promote interest in the National Day.

King Carl Gustaf and queen Silvia visit Munich on 23-25 July. They will attend at a Charity Gala Jazz Konsert, at Prinzregententheater on 23rd July.
The concert is organized for the benefit for two of Queen Silvia's initiatives, which work in Germany: The World Childhood Foundation and The Maltese Day Center for Dementia in Munich, which cooperates with Silviahemmet Foundation.
The proceeds will be used to support the day-care center Munich. An initiative of the daughter of Prince of Hohenzollern and princess Birgitta, Désirée von Bohlen und Halbach. The concert takes place in the presence of Her Majesties, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden.

Queen Silvia delivered today at the Royal Palace Queen Silvia Nursing Awards to Saga Wahltsröm from Mälardalen University in Sweden, Michelle One of Novia University of Applied Sciences in Finland, and Natalia Duszeńska from Medical University of Warsaw in Poland.
Queen Silvia Nursing Award is a scholarship for nursing students in Sweden and Finland, founded in 2013 as a gift to Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden on her 70th birthday. Swedish Care International founded the scholarship with the intention and purpose to increase awareness of and focus on good care of elderly and dementia patients.

King Carl Gustaf delivered today at the Royal Palace the Vega Medal to Professor Tandong Yao, director of the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Beijing China, and director of the CAS Center for Excellence in Tibetan Plateau Earth Sciences. Professor Yao gets the prize for his outstanding contribution to glacier research and to the society at large.

Queen Silvia said about the work of SOS Children's Villages.
- There is a nice group working here and there are many unaccompanied children. They told us how hard it might be to start a new life. Learn Swedish, and that was the most important, Swedish. It opens doors and possibilities. One of the girls wanted to become a dentist, a young man studied law and he has succeeded well.
How do you talk to the grandchild about these questions?
- Now they are so small, Princess Estelle is five years old. But we tell that there are children who are having a hard time. Who can not have toys and so on. We'll do that. But she is still very small, says Silvia.
