The Swedish King and Queen will on Monday participate in the joint catholic-lutheran commemoration of the Reformation in Lund.

I have today met some of the participants on their journey through Denmark to Sweden.

Unfortunately the Pope will not come to Kastrup ;) But I look forward to see some photos from this event.

The Pope visiting Lund and Malmö is dominating the news in southern Sweden, and has done so the last week. The preparations for the visit have taken place for at least six months and the security for the visit is enormous.

The service in Lund Cathedral will start 2.30 CET on Monday and will be led my the Pope together with representatives from The Lutheran World Federation to mark the 500 years Commemoration of the Reformation. The services is only open for specially invited guests, such as the King and Queen, the Prime Minister and some other ministers. The majority of the guests will come from different religious communities, not only Christian. The guest list in its entity was released a couple of days ago on permission from the police: http://www.sydsvenskan.se/2016-10-27/paven-i-lunds-domkyrka-vi-har-hela-gastlistan (in Swedish).

Information about the service and the other events in Malmö could be find at: Joint Catholic-Lutheran Commemoration of the Reformation

SVT will have a live broadcast from the service in Lund Cathedral, and it will be available worldwide: Gudstjänst från Lunds domkyrka med påve Franciskus - Gudstjänst | SVT Play

King Carl Gustaf and queen Silvia visit Eskilstuna City Mission this afternoon.

Kungaparet besöker Härbärget i Eskilstuna idag - P4 Sörmland _ Sveriges Radio

We have visited the Stockholm City Mission a few years earlier, and think it is great that there is now City Mission also in Eskilstuna. It seems fine, what we have seen during this short visit. The sad thing is that there must be one, but that's what the society is, unfortunately - it is tough and hard. There are always those who need help, says the King to Eskilstuna-Kuriren newspaper.

Winter cold is getting worse - and then the situation of the homeless in Sweden becomes desperate.
During a visit to Eskilstuna City Mission the royal couple expressed their great concern for what awaits the very vulnerable social group:
- It's getting tough out there, the King says.
Emanuel comes originally from Guinea Bissau in West Africa and spoke Portuguese with Queen Silvia.
- He came to Sweden in the late 80s and speaks really excellent Swedish. He has four children here too and finds it difficult to find a shelter or a place to live. He has had help with work, but to find a place to live is difficult.

Queen Silvia with Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development.
Education is the most "powerful vehicle for positive change" in the world, Queen Silvia of Sweden said in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
Queen Silvia told the first Fatima bint Mubarak Motherhood and Childhood Forum it was hugely important for the world to ensure children’s rights and help young people to reach their potential.
"Looking at the state of the world around us and the difficulties many children are facing, it is easy to despair," she said.
"Much progress has been made but still too many children die and suffer, and many more do not reach their full potential. It is our duty to make sure children’s rights are fulfilled. We need the children as much as they need us. We need to foster brave and responsible citizens of tomorrow. We need to prepare for ideas and innovation, which will solve not only the problems of today but those of tomorrow as well."
Queen Silvia, who collected an award for her contribution to childhood development, spoke of the all-important early years when children were not "framed by norms and limitations".
"I believe we can all unite around education and embrace it as a core theme of today," the founder of World Childhood Foundation said. "Education is the most hopeful powerful vehicle for positive change. With education, vicious circles of poverty and discrimination can be broken and sustainable development can be expected."

H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, presented the Sheikha Fatima Medal of First Class to Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden in recognition of her contributions towards the welfare and well-being of women and children in her country and across the world.
The award was bestowed at a dinner hosted by H.H. Sheikha Fatima at the Emirates Palace last night in honour of the guests and the delegates who participated in the Fatima bint Mubarak Motherhood and Childhood Forum.
In her acceptance speech, Queen Silvia said that the historic event was the first international gathering of its kind to address the challenges faced by women and children. She then thanked H.H. Sheikha Fatima for the great honour to address the forum and explore prospects for forging new partnerships in a bid to support children. She also lauded Sheikha Fatima's passion and pioneering work for children, and her commitment to ensure the well-being of women and children.
