King Carl Gustaf gave today an audience to WWF's Secretary General Håkan Wirtén and Anna Skogsberg. It was a preparatory meeting for the WWF's annual meeting held on Thursday 19th May in Ramna.

Earlier today the king and queen met Kristoffer Bäckström from Stiftelsen Sveriges Nationaldag (National Day of Sweden Foundation) and John Brattmyr, ceo of Skansen.

In the evening the king attended at the Gastronomic Academy's spring meeting.

For the third consecutive year, the Queen Silvia Nursing Award was awarded to the nursing students who have fundamental ideas about development in elderly care. The Award is delivered for a student in Sweden and in Finland
This year's recipient of stipendiatet was Elias Kallio, Tampere Polytechnic/Finland, rewarded for his idea "Website for reducing loneliness among the elderly" and Pernilla Rönntoft, Gothenburg University, which awarded the prize for her idea of ​​a competence license in geriatric care.

The King on an excursion at Öjesjöbrännan in Västmanland. The theme was "Two years after the wildfire - the nature's recovery." The excursion in the fire ravaged area was part of the World Wildlife Fund WWF's annual meeting.

King Carl Gustaf attends from today until 25th May to the Environment meeting Royal Colloquium 2016 at the Rosersberg Palace. The meeting brings together leading international researchers, policy makers and cultural figures. The King took in 1992 the initiative for the meeting Royal Colloquium. This year's meeting with the theme "Environmental Reality: Reconsidering the Options" is the twelfth in the series of meetings. Topics include climate change indirect and less publicized impact on areas such as health, water and energy.
A press meeting will be held at Rosersberg on Wednesday May 25th at 15.15.

Queen Silvia gets today the Benediktpreis von Mönchengladbach in Germany.

Queen Silvia is received by Speaker of Landtag Carina Gödecke and Minister President of North Rhine-Westphalia Hannelore Kraft. In the parliament also students from Cologne and the Burscheid may meet the Queen. The fourth graders can address their questions to the queen.
For its commitment for the children the 72-year-old has won many awards. On Tuesday evening another will be added: Then she gets in Mönchengladbach the Benedict prize. At the ceremony the winner certificate and plaque is obtained. The award is also endowed with 5,000 Euro.

King Carl Gustaf attended on Tuesday at the second day of Royal Colloquium. The day began with the second session of the Conference: Complexity, Risks and Extreme Events. After lunch, the third session Technology and Innovation began. After a short break the afternoon was ended with fourth session: Major Trends.

"Last September, 17 Sustainable Development Goals were adopted by world leaders at the United Nations. Each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next 15 years. These goals and targets are the core of Agenda 2030. They represent a commitment by all nations to work together to end poverty, build peace and secure a life of dignity and a healthy planet for all. Many of the targets focus on ending violence against children, as well as the use of children in labour and combat.
I am very proud that my daughter, Crown Princess Victoria, has been appointed by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as one of sixteen Advocates to promote these Global Goals. As an Advocate she is expected to promote the messages and encourage partnerships with governments, the private sector and civil society for achieving the Global Goals."

King Carl Gustaf arrived to his visit to Halmstad. The visit has been previously cancelled two times because of the Te Deums of Oscar and Alexander.
Also the Minister for Upper Secondary School and Adult Education and Training, Aida Hadzialic, is with the king at the visit. She has grown up in Halmstad.

Expressen tells about the king's two hour visit at Söndrumsskolan
- It's been really nice, very interesting. We are of course proud that he chose to come to our school, says Maria Rüter, principal at the school.
She says that the King first attended a history lesson before a meeting with the school's special education teacher.
- There he saw how we work with something called "bravkod" for dyslexics. And he is also a bit interested about that, she continues.
