Svensk Damtidning tells, that king Carl Gustaf and queen Silvia were before Easter on their annual holiday in Klosters in Switzerland. Their good friends Tore and Marianne Bergengren live there. With the king and queen at the trip were also their friends Per and Åsa Taube, and Johan and Eliane Beckman, who came from Paris. The king was skiing, but the queen didn't want to take any risks before the king's birthday, remembering the accident last year in Klosters, so the queen wasn't skiing.

No, it means that the reception is for those Head of State who will be there on 21st and 22nd. I think that the queen will leave back to Sweden after the reception or latest on Thursday morning. And the Te Deum could be held without the Queen. It is only the King who is needed for the Council meeting.

Queen Silvia held just the opening speech at the UNGASS (UN General Assembly Special Session) Special Side Event on Drug Prevention "Listen First", organized by UNDOC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime).

King Carl Gustaf delivered the Vega Medal to Professor Didier Fassin at a ceremony at the Royal Palace.
Swedish Society for Anthropology and Geography (SSAG) distributes the Vega Medal 2016 to Professor Didier Fassin from The Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, USA. Fassin is a versatile anthropologist with extensive and broad qualifications, and with a strong commitment to social issues.
The Vega Medal was instituted in 1880 by the Swedish Society for Anthropology and Geography (SSAG) and shall according to its Charter, go to “individuals who in an excellent manner have furthered geographical research.”
The award is presented in connection with the anniversary of the ship Vega’s arrival at Stockholm, on the 24th of April 1880. The Vega was the steamship that was used by Adolf Erik Nordenskiöld on the 1878-1880 Vega Expedition. The expeditionary purpose was to sail through the Northeast Passage, which in fact succeeded. King Oscar II was involved in the project and financed the expedition.
The King is SSAG’s principal patron.

So far the king has worn with his white tie four memorial medals of King Gustaf V, King Gustaf VI Adolf, King Haakon VII and King Olav V of Norway (miniature badges).
The king wore on Saturday for the first time a fifth memorial medal: King Harald Vs Jubilee Medal 1991-2016

Is there a reason why the king only wears Norwegian commemorative medals and not for example Danish commerotive medals or even more recent Swedish ones?

Is there a reason why the king only wears Norwegian commemorative medals and not for example Danish commerotive medals or even more recent Swedish ones?

I remember having read from somewhere that the danish commemorative medals are delivered only to Danes. I don't know if it is true or not.
As for recent Swedish ones, I think they are all his own commemorative medals (or the commemorative medal for Victoria's and Daniel's wedding), so he wears the latest commemorative medals of his predecessors.

He wears the medals he's been given. He was born when Gustaf V was King so he can't wear a medal from Oscar II.

Don't know why he doesn't wear any danish medals. Maybe it's an old tradition since when Bernadotte ruled Norway too.

According to this blog (in Swedish) the King only wears medals commemorating other monarchs, and would have worn danish ones if they were not exclusive to the danish Royal House and court.

The King and Queen met the playwright and actor Andreas T Olsson after tonight's performance of the theater cabaret The Prompter. The Prompter is played at the Royal Dramatic Theatre.

The 99th - and final - ordinary show of "Prompter" was played at the Royal Dramatic Theatre today. King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia were in the audience.
- The king and queen have got an interest in many fields and culture is one of the areas they think are important to show their appreciation for, says Margareta Thorgren.
The royal couple has long wanted to see "Prompter" - but has not found time in their busy program.
- It is the last regular show and they wanted to see it, but have not had time before. Therefore, they are very happy that they could watch the show today. Theatre is important for the royal couple, and something that they appreciate, Thorgren says

King Carl Gustaf and queen Silvia inaugurated this year's Solliden exhibition "Kungliga stolar genom 200 år" (Royal Chairs through 200 years). "It sounds a little strange, but there is no symbolism in this at all that you would be tired and need to sit down when you have celebrated a jubilee year", said the king.
