King Carl Gustaf and queen Silvia attended this afternoon at Orphei Drängar's spring concert at the Uppsala University. Guest soloist at the concert is opera singer Christina Nilsson. King Carl XVI Gustaf received the bronze medal for his 50-year membership in the singing society.

Since H.M. The king was elected to the society in 1969 as a member number 2301, he will this year receive the royal jubilee medal, which is awarded to all members of Orphei Drängar for a 50-year membership in the choir. The medal was instituted by the King's grandfather's father, Gustaf V, who during his years of study in Uppsala was an active singer in the choir.

On Saturday, when the king received a medal for his 50 years in the choir Orphei Drängar, he revealed a cheat.
- But this is long ago, time-barred, the king said in his speech.
As Sweden's King, Carl XVI Gustaf has several areas of responsibility - but singing to the public is not one of them. But he told about singing at his speech.
Then he had just been awarded a medal for having been in the choir for 50 years.
- I distribute many medals and plaques all the time, but when you receive your own then I come as soon as possible, Carl Gustaf said.
He then told about a memory from 1969.
Carl Gustaf was then at the Swedish Embassy in Washington, where a choir would sing. Prior to the appearance, the then crown prince was asked whether he wanted to be involved - something he doubtfully accepted.
- I wasn't with so many years in school choir, I went out pretty quickly. I don't really know why. Our music teacher said afterwards that he thought I was someone who didn't do his utmost, King Carl Gustaf told in his speech.
According to the king, the appearance received great attention. The local media wrote that they were impressed by his musical talent.
- I was quite impressed, too, said the king.
But then Carl Gustaf opened up a truth that had been hidden for 50 years:
- That I managed mime all the time.
However, the king didn't seem too embarrassed by his revelation. The audience laughed and applauded. Carl Gustaf promised to redo it if he was ever offered to sing with a choir again.
- It has gone quite well so far and I will continue with that.

On Saturday, April 27, the King and Queen attended Orphei Drängar's spring concert in Uppsala University's auditorium.
The Orphei Drängar men's choir was founded in 1853 in Uppsala and is still active with tours and concerts in Sweden and around the world. Guest artist at this year's spring concert in Uppsala was opera singer Christina Nilsson. Together they performed music from romance and classic spring songs to celebrate the spring and the approaching early summer.

Svensk Damtidning was the only magazine attending the inauguration of the pavilion to the dog island in Drottningholm.

The king had invited everyone to the inauguration of his latest home project, this nice pavilion on the mini-island of Ormholmen, which is a few hundred meters from the park of Drottningholm Palace.
Here, all dogs can run freely, without leashes.
- The King himself walks here with Brandie every day, yes, depending on time anyway, said Margareta Thorgren for Svensk Damtidning.
But the island has missed a weather protection - and now the king's wish for a small pavilion on the dog island has become reality.
- It's a dream that the king has had for a long time. A great idea that is entirely his own. The King thinks there has been a place where one can sit under the roof if it's raining, or where you can sit down and talk for a while with a good friend, says Drottningholm palace bailiff Stefan Wirtén.
The King inaugurated the pavilion with some spontaneous words, and told, among other things, that he had been with in planting the oak trees.
- It must have been the beginning of the 1960s, I remember following my grandfather here.

On Tuesday, April 30, at the King's birthday, the King Couple and their Bavarian Mountain Scenthound dog, Brandie, attended the opening of a new pavilion at Drottningholms Palace Park.
The pavilion is located on Ormholmen in the part of the Palac park called the English park. The island is open to everyone and dogs can go loose without leashes.
The new pavilion has been built on the initiative of the King and is intended to act as a weather protection and place for rest. The pavilion is made of wood with slate roofs and benches facing both outwards and inwards.
During the opening ceremony, an ensemble from the Armed Forces played under the direction of court-trumpeter Olle Hermansen.

Since I got to see his 73rd birthday I was going to get a little caught up on going to see other birthdays, his 40th and 30th are up on SVT Play, but unfortunately for whatever their reason if you don't live in Sweden you can't see those videos, which is a real disappointment for those of us who just want to watch them and don't have that opportunity. I really was looking forward to it. You used to be able to.

King Carl Gustaf inaugurated today this year's Solliden exhibition. Queen Silvia attended with the king, she wasn't listed to attend at the calendar.

Maps were in focus when King Carl XVI Gustaf inaugurated this year's Solliden exhibition
On Monday afternoon, King Carl XVI Gustaf traditionally inaugurated this year's exhibition in the Solliden Pavilion. It is called "Maps and posters from the royal collections" a and there are rarities from the royal map collection, for example, some maps from the 17th century.
With Queen Silivia on his side, he kept a shorter speech for the invited guests.
- This is an exciting exhibition and I have always been interested in maps, new and old. It is possible to understand a lot from old maps, for example, the city name says a lot about how people have lived and what they have lived off, says the King.

What do you mean by "orders" in your last sentence ("The king delivered orders to five honorary consuls") ? Are you referring to some form of diplomatic credential issued by the King or actual orders of merit ? I would appreciate if you could clarify as I seem to be lost in translation.

The article doesn't specify what order was handed out, but since the word "orden" was used it's most probably The Order of the Polar Star that the honorary consuls received. Any other orders (The Order of the Seraphim & Order of Carl XIII) are for different reasons improbable and if it was a medal (of which there are plenty) the word chosen would be "medalj".

Yes, I too think the King delivered The Orders of the Polar Star, because when Victoria and Daniel visited Colombia, Victoria delivered the Order of the Polar Star to Gustavo Molina Núñez, granted because of his devotion at the service of the Kingdom of Sweden as Honorary Consul.

On Monday, June 17, the King and Queen visited the Royal Armoury. During the visit, the King and Queen got acquainted with the new permanent exhibition, which is a chronological story of Sweden's royal history.
For a number of years, the Royal Armoury's permanent exhibition has been closed for renovation and to enable new research and knowledge to be highlighted.
Today, the King reopened the permanent exhibition, which tells of our country's royal history from King Gustav Vasa to today's royal family.
Together with the Minister for Culture, Amanda Lind, the King and Queen got a tour of the exhibition and its many objects by museum director Malin Grundberg, as well as the curators Sofia Nestor and Andreas Olsson.
At a subsequent inauguration ceremony outside the museum, the King spoke and said, among other things:
"To make 500 years of royal history alive is no small task. There is a lot of work behind the new exhibition. And I hope that it will attract many visitors - both young and old."
