I'm rather sad. This visit shows Madeleine's nowaday's work ethics. To me she isn't representing Sweden anymore, she is representing herself. If she would represent Sweden, she would have attended at the whole program and showed her respect to those brave swedish and finnish men and women, who went to America 375 years ago. Now it looks that she picks up those events that aren't so "boring", and chooses the events with the most photographers. On Wednesday she said that they wouldn't attend at the other events and on Friday she and Chris decide that it would be cool to attend at the reception and dinner. This was rather an official visit, so such an impulsive behaviour is quite interesting. Madeleine has potential and she would be a good asset for Sweden in USA, if she would take her role as more seriously.
Queen Silvia looks lovely, an interesting choice to use the ruby tiara as a necklace with this dress. She knows how to dress to a celebration like this. She represents her country gracefully. And it was great to see vice president Biden attending at the party, he has his permanent home in Wilmington.

I agree with you LadyFinn. I also find stressing out that it was Madeleine's decission to be there, rather unfortunate. I'd say as a Swedish Princess her presence there should have been confirmed from the begining. The press department said many times, that she is acting as kind of a representative of SRF in USA to justify her long stay there. It should have been no brainer and at least she, if not Christopher, should have been there to support her parents the whole time.

The residents of Deleware were out in force on Saturday afternoon to welcome King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden as they celebrated the 375th anniversary of Sweden and Finland's colonial establishment of New Sweden, now located in Wilmington, Delaware.
The Swedish royals began their day in Delaware with a luncheon at the Bunea Vista Mansion in New Castle with Governor Jack Markell.
After lunch, the royals headed to the Wilmington river front where they boarded a replica ship of the Kalmar Nykel and ceremoniously sailed to Fort Christina.

I am not sure I am as severe as you are towards Madie. If I got it right their first involvement was in an event in NY, where they live. Later Madie and Chris came for a reception in Delaware to celebrate the Swedish community. The trip is an activity of the King and Queen.

What I will remenber about this trip is the article in Aftonbladet about some rudeness from the King towards the Queen when interrupting her answers to questions from journalists. While at a reception in his welcome speech, Joe Biden, US VP, had strong admiration words towards Madie, Chris and particularly the Queen, and Swedes, starting with them!, and was only fairly short about the King himself at the end... just a coïncidence ?!
